Read this back to the tune of "Can I kick It?".

We are innovating faster than they can even comprehend the innovation. We're way past the event horizon. We know it. They are clueless. You're part of one of the most significant revolutions in modern history. Good morning 🌞

Alas, all these risks have materialised.

- Today, Bitcoin transactions are still inconvenient, slow, and costly. Outside the darknet, the hidden part of the internet used for criminal activities, it is hardly used for payments at all. The regulatory initiatives to combat the large-scale use of the Bitcoin network by criminals have not been successful yet. Even the full sponsoring by the government in El Salvador which granted it legal tender status and tried hard to kick off network effects through an initial Bitcoin gift of $30 in free bitcoin to citizens could not establish it as successful means of payment.

- Likewise, Bitcoin is still not suitable as an investment. It does not generate any cash flow (unlike real estate) or dividends (stocks), cannot be used productively (commodities), and offers no social benefit (gold jewellery) or subjective appreciation based on outstanding abilities (works of art). Less financially knowledgeable retail investors are attracted by the fear of missing out, leading them to potentially lose their money.

- And the mining of Bitcoin using the proof of work mechanism continues to pollute the environment on the same scale as entire countries, with higher Bitcoin prices implying higher energy consumption as higher costs can be covered by miners.

"A *person* is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it." - Kay

Big same. But I will settle for some flan if creme brulee isn't available

What are your theories, anon?

If Nostr every really took off, like replace twitter/youtube/facebook take off, they will develop the tools necessary (wouldn't be hard) to track lightning payments advertised over Nostr. I think we are yearssss from that, but hard to imagine if creators built legitimate content creation businesses on here as they do on legacy platforms today, that the IRS wouldn't want their cut. It being an open protocol does also mean it's open to their frictionless surveillance. I say this as a person that thinks zaps are AMAZING, just interesting to think about.

I mean, they might not be looking *right now*. But your receiving address is public information, by design. Most of the zaps you receive are public information, by design. They will come looking for their take eventually.

Zaps are (mostly) public. If creators started making income on nostr, the IRS will come. The feasibility of enforcement might vary, but that doesn't mean they won't try.

How long till the IRS starts enforcing declaring zaps

Smash buy, initiated
