Since the Mars ESCAPADE launch was done in a year outside the Earth-Mars launch window, the twin spacecraft are in a trajectory that will bring them close to Earth at near escape velocity next year in the Earth-Mars window. They will perform a burn that takes advantage of the Oberth Effect.

Ship 36 conducts a single engine static fire, to simulate an in-space burn.
Starship upper stages must successfully demonstrate a single engine restart during flight, to verify that they can perform a de-orbit burn. This demonstration is needed, before Starship can be allowed to circularize its orbit.
