"Certificate is invalid - ok, let's disable certificate validation then".

Reinforcement learning of an LLM does not include the feedback of "fearing a slap" or at least "suffering eternal jokes from colleagues". They're limited.

After firing off a glib toot to nostr:nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnddaehgu3wwp6kyqpqp450apv3j8jmqjct3ddfklzusxyfkkyqpzxx4p33u099xjzvfwwsjlkxk4 this morning, I decided to test #AI code assistants to see how easy it is to get them to disable SSL certificate validation in CURL. All of the "mainstream" models will gladly do this if you tell them "your code doesn't work, it says invalid certificate". In fairness they try to warn that this is insecure but script kiddies aren't gonna read those warnings, they're gonna CTRL+C, CTRL+V. Hello world! Today is the final leg of my “totally an academic I promise” tour and I’ll be joining a workshop on AI explainability and reproducibility at the Alan Turing Institute in the British Library. I promise I will actually take some down time after this.

Just reluctantly put my new AE-10 wind synth down after a long first day of play as my fingers are starting to really ache. Being able to emulate sax, electric guitar or bagpipes and hear it + a backing track in my headphones is magical. Most excited I’ve been about music practice for years.

Sticking to today's theme of electrical tinkering, I've added a new stubby aerial to my #meshtastic lilygo t-deck device and written up some notes on how to flash the new experimental firmware https://brainsteam.co.uk/posts/2024/11/09/lilygo-t-deck-plus-updates-and-maintenance1731169410/

Read a pretty grim and conclusive document that suggests we are pretty much doomed when it comes to #climatechange (see https://medium.com/@samyoureyes/the-busy-workers-handbook-to-the-apocalypse-7790666afde7 but massive trigger warning: depressing as all hell)

feeling pretty disheartened by it.

Is anyone collecting ideas or examples of things that we are doing or could do to prevent the end of the world? I'd really love to hear them right now 😔😅 #climatecrisis
