Lnurl is nothing more than a json file sitting on a webserver. That's why lnurl isn't built into wallets.
If you own a domain name, you just need a cheap VPS and, you can host your own lnurl server. There's quite a few different options available on GitHub.
Basically, when the web server is queried with an address, the web server makes a Rest connection to the LND node and using the invoice macaroon, generates a regular lightning invoice and delivers that invoice via the web server.
A simple lnurl server will require you to type out the json file yourself. There's some pretty elaborate one's on GitHub that have a flash looking web site with automated nostr NIP-05 addresses as well, in a ready to go docker bundle. These create all the necessary json files with a postgresql backend if you want to host addresses for friends and family.
This is why most people don't bother setting up their own lnurl server. Look at the one I'm using and you'll see how they work. onlynostr.club

On my profile you see below my name mananguri@onlynostr.club. That's a NIP-05 address. Anyone can call themselves Mananguri, but only I have access to the mananguri@onlynostr.club registration PIN.
I can also use that NIP-05 address as my lightning wallet address too. You just point the address to your own lightning wallet. It's really simple to setup. Check it out.

It's super easy to replace a Bitcoin address you copy to your clipboard with another address belonging to someone else.
For your own security, do the transfers to cold storage yourself. Fees are very cheap at the moment so, now is the time to learn. Do a few transfers of tiny amounts of Bitcoin to cold storage until you become comfortable with how to do it safety. A couple of dollars spent now on Bitcoin fees for peace of mind is a bargain.
Lightning addresses have to be served up by a web server. That's why Bitcoin wallets use an intermediary web service that does the conversion from address to lnurlp.
