Daily Gratitude: the Barbell. It is punishing to the ego and body but it builds you stronger every day you touch it. There is no better tool for strength than it. Every home should have one. It makes you better.

Agree with Muzan’s assessment. If strength and overall health/fitness is your goal, I recommend the back squat (low-bar/high-bar) or front squat with a barbell. If you need a reference, pick up Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe.
An analogy I once heard that stuck with me: “You can’t shoot a cannon from a rowboat”. Translation: If you want to get strong/big/fit then the barbell squat is the equivalent of an “Aircraft Carrier” upon which everything else (big arms, big chest, big back, calves, abs, etc) is built.
All that said, happy to see you’re getting in the gym. Anything is better than nothing and you’re better than the other 90% of Americans. Welcome to the game, brother.

Daily Gratitude: Winter Sports. Skiing/snowboarding, ice skating, sledding/tobogganing (I don’t know the difference), curling, etc. Great to have sports that get us outdoors during the cold winter months. Shoveling snow is also a workout, if not a sport. Thankful to participate in them during the colder months.
Lord, grant me hope to build the future for me and my posterity.

Daily Gratitude: swimming pools. They are great for all the people who don’t have access to a small or large natural body of water to increase water-confidence (read: learn to swim). Endless fun in the summer as a kid and winter (if it’s indoors, of course). Hopefully Bitcoin mining doesn’t use up the water of every swimming pool around the world in the next hour….😜. Thankful for swimming pools everywhere.

They were animal tracks, then paths, then “carriageways” and now we can them roads, streets, avenues, highways, motorways, etc. The fact is that they enable transportation and are profoundly important to our modern way of life. Daily Gratitude: Sauna. The idea to build a place that you just sit in and sweat because it’s ridiculously hot and humid is crazy, but it works (especially after a night of drinking). Super grateful to have the use of one and for whomever dreamt up that idea.

Daily Gratitude: Fermentation & Alcohol. Humans developed it about 5,000 years ago because it fills a basic human need. We harnessed fermentation, and it’s byproduct alcohol, because life is difficult and most people need a way to calm down the inner critic/anxiety. In moderation it is wonderful, in excess it is devastating. Thankful for it. Always have to be disciplined with it and respect its effects.

Daily Gratitude: Blueberries. They are delicious and nutritious. They are an especially good “brain food” and are recommended (by Dr Daniel G Amen) to be eaten every day. Thankful they can be purchased (relatively cheap) in the fruit sections of most grocery stories. Thankful for them, the farmers that produce them, and the entire business enterprise & logistics chain that makes them so widely available to us.
Lord, grant that I may not so much seek to be understood as to understand.

Daily Gratitude: Indoor, electric washer & dryer. I can put my clothes in a machine and it washes them while I’m doing other things. Same thing for the Dryer. Hand washing and drying clothes would take much time and energy away from other creative human pursuits. It is incredible how blessed we are to have machines like this.
Lord, make me charitable, always, to my fellow man for what I do to the least of them, I do to you.

Daily Gratitude: clean drinking water. I can get it out of every tap in my home without a thought about whether it’s potable. It’s readily available 24/7/365 for a small monthly charge. Unbelievable how much this adds to human productivity and health.
