Tested this on a more recent note.
Seems as though “private” zaps throw the error above, but anonymous and public zaps haven’t caused the same issue (for me, at least).

If you can consistently recreate can you add an issue with all details needed to recreate:
Wallet(s) used
NWC used
Zap type, amount etc
Receiver(s) npub and zap address

Only some users, only some of the time, but Matt is right that it’s usually when they’re receiving zaps to their own node and/or have a slightly unusual zapping address. Although I’ve also noticed it when trying to zap people with the zbd.gg addresses.
I am typically not using NWC, just setting a default wallet to open from Damus - Phoenix, Zeus, previously WoS.
Zap amounts range from 69-5K sats. I’ll see if I can replicate reliably 🫡
The same cloth of suits that do fuckery for fiat markets (coinbase, binance, ftx, other rugpulls) for bitcoin also do fuckery for mining stack (industrial captured operations, antminer maker, country's "bans", hacked botnets for altcoins). Both attempts to TRY to gain some semblance of control via dumps & pumps.

Hey Matt...any chance of doing a video on Citadel Dispatch about how to use Nostr? I joined and learned how to follow people, but that's about it (and even that doesn't work sometimes as all those I follow seems to disappear). Also, not owning my own node I'm a bit confused about what wallet to use (can't use sparrow) for zapping. Basically, a video that could teach your Grandma how to use Nostr.
Try nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm it's custodial so don't keep any amount of SATs on there that you don't want to lose. They have a great product that's super easy but historically you'll do much better assuming that custodians will steal your SATs without warning at any time.
Think of it as a donation that they'll take at some point for creating such an easy lightning wallet for nostr
