I agree with Erikha: Itās inevitable. That $36 trillion figure doesnāt even count the unfunded liabilities of Social Security and Medicare.
Iām also an anarchist and appreciate that youāre looking for non-state solutions, but I wonder if youāre expecting too much? Nostr is just a protocol, and at the very least nazis and pedophiles arenāt going to be part of any collective decision to ban them. Itās true that clients and relays can go farther in allowing users to curate their feed, but undesirables will always be able to publish on Nostr somewhere.
Tending graves on #MemorialDay
Yes, I agree.
I partly agree. If someone operates a public relay, I would like him to have a liberal attitude about the notes he permits. However, Nostrās censorship-resistance isnāt dependent on every public relay operator doing that; it comes from users connecting to many relays. Also, while I would like relay operators to be very pro-speech, I donāt think that should extend to relaying spam.
I think there would be less reporting of NSFW content if users could just blur it or turn it off in their clients.
Good point. At least in Damus, users have the ability to report a note to relays, but relays donāt have to do anything.
You can use a centralized exchange like Coinbase, and that would be convenient. The downside is that thereās no privacy; you have to thoroughly identify yourself and they tell the IRS what you bought. Decentralized exchanges like Bisq or AgoraDesk are more private but you have to buy from someone whoās selling, and on Bisq escrow requirements mean you need Bitcoin to buy Bitcoin.
This site has a list of exchanges without Know Your Customer requirements:
As I understand NIP-36, the noteās author puts the content warning on it. I think thatās how it should be. If readers could flag a note, inevitably some would abuse that power. Authors who post sensitive notes without warnings can be muted at the discretion of individual readers.
In my opinion, the third season is much better than the first two.
Absolutely. I would do the same thing if I were in your place.
The hang-up I have is that OF demands that I provide them with a full name, address, and credit card number.
I get that people have been trained to be suspicious of any account with a beautiful profile picture, but maybe an investigation is unnecessary? Thereās no harm in giving her the benefit of the doubt.
Iām sorry you were harassed. That must be frustrating.
Must have been some tough dirt.
