Direct realist, individualist, libertarian, dove. Trying to overcome my biases.

Michelle Pfeiffer isn’t even in the list? Come on.

I watched The Harvey Girls (George Sidney, 1956), which is a #musical about steak house waitresses civilizing the West. (I’m not kidding.) There are a couple of memorable scenes. One is a mass bar brawl between waitresses and showgirls. The other is this scene where #JudyGarland uses two six-shooters to hold up a saloon:

Definitely harder rocking than the original.

I know there are plenty of gold haters on Nostr, and I know you can't send gold over the Internet or store it in a seed phrase. Still, gold has been money for thousands of years. I don't have as much confidence in Bitcoin's future.

"I was born when she kissed me. I died when she left me. I lived a few weeks while she loved me."

Just rewatched this #noir classic. So good. It's loosely based on a Dorothy B. Hughes novel, which I haven't read but is supposed to be somewhat feminist.

In the movie, Bogart plays a screenwriter prone to violence and catastrophizing. He may or may not have murdered a young woman. Gloria Grahame plays his alibi. She falls in love with him but then begins to doubt his innocence.

I’m perplexed by the notion of a book, movie, or TV show “defining me.” Certainly there are things I read or viewed when I was young that I strongly agreed with, immensely enjoyed, or found important. But my opinions have changed, especially relative to things I’ve consumed since then. Sometimes I wonder how I ever liked something. nostr:note1rzs39vqe0znatkuscrtcusscmhmca2ud3ppl9apppdlslheczpqqukk6km

I’ve had sassafras tea. It’s pretty good.

I think Nostr clients could do more to allow users to filter the content they see. (More support for NIP-36 would be a good start.) Until that happens, I find it odd that some users have the effrontery to ask everyone else on Nostr to censor themselves, for the sake of children, porn-addicted men, or whoever. If you want a child-safe bubble, find relays with moderation policies that are acceptable to you, or run one yourself. Don't ask the rest of us to create that bubble for you by limiting our own speech.
