It's similar to the other social engineering scams, like DEI. At the company I work for, at the start of many meetings, we have a 5 minute safety talk and a 5 minute diversity talk. Probably about 2 to 3 per week. We all have to prepare and present them. My friend and colleague is Indian. He knows it's all a scam, and kind of feels bad for the white males who are expected to hate themselves for their color and gender, and make room for others.
Climate scam is at least as bad.
To speak up and say you don't believe it would be like saying "I don't believe science" (it isn't science) or "I am selfish and don't care about the planet". Much easier and safer for individuals to keep quiet, which is what most of us do.
