What are you in for?

I never reveal my identity in public, online forums. Most of my mutuals on social media feel the same way. I've seen too many people suffer discrimination as a result of their political speech, and there's no way I could fully exercise my right to speak my mind without fear of retaliation in the real world. I'm surrounded by petty tyrants who would absolutely cause me suffering if they knew what I really believed.

I hope so. If this doesn't do it, I don't know what will.

No, they'll go to the node operators next. Individual users are last on their list, too numerous and too difficult to identity (in case of anons). Also, depending on jurisdiction, they may be protected by freedom of speech laws, which are a last line of defense after Terms of Service fail them.

The censorship industrial complex is every bit a threat to your civil rights as central banks. Legacy Media is onboard to protect their dwindling revenues. Social Media is onboard to protect against over-regulation. Big Government is doing it for job security and political power. Nowhere in the equation does your right to free speech factor in.

The need for decentralized media has reached a crescendo. The government can no longer be trusted to protect our right to free speech. We need a technical solution (in the spirit of Bitcoin) that removes government from the equation. I don't want a panel of judges or a body of lawmakers or an agency of bureaucrats or a trust & safety team anywhere in the world thinking they can regulate speech or otherwise get between me and the people or services I want to connect with. The First Amendment guarantees the right to free speech, free assembly, free association, etc. Yet here we are with the SCOTUS deciding who can infringe those rights and by how much. This case doesn't even scratch the surface of the highly organized censorship industrial complex run by the federal government in blatant violation of the Constitution, which the First Amendment was expressly written to protect against. The next few years are going to be wild. If you're counting on government to protect you, I think you'll be disappointed.
