Although rare, every now and then, a snap can pop off. Or a button can break on a shirt. It happens (it’s why classic button down shirts often come with an extra).
Once on Instagram, I was in the comments of a post, from one of the big western brands. A customer of that brand was telling the story of how a snap came off their western shirt; and the brand just sent him a new shirt (basically telling him to throw out the old one).
Which is crazy. But the shirts from that brand (and many of the big western brands) are so cheap, it’s actually more expensive to replace a snap, then it is to just send them a new brand new shirt.
It’s not the case with us. Our shirts are made here. They are expensive. Replacing a snap is easy. And we don’t want you to throw it out ever.
My goal is for people to be able to wear them for 50 years. So when / if a snap ever breaks, or you tear the shirt, we’ll do whatever we can to fix it, and will cover all costs and shipping. Get that patina.
This fasting app was vibe coded at a hackathon but necessarily led to the vibe friending @RayBuni to build it for real.
I wanted something that was NOSTR and Bitcoin only with no email, text or fiat rails. If I was still vibe coding without getting this intel, this app would be 6 months out at least.
We had our first couple alpha testers complete 3 day fasts today.
Nick from @westmajor was one of them.
A 3 day fast is something I WOULD actually wish on my worst enemy because it’s hard to be enemies if you can share this experience.
I asked Nick about how he felt today and it’s similar to others that complete fasts.
It’s always this unbelievable grin.
It’s so difficult to complete but so worth it to prove to yourself you can do it. You can detect (I think I can) when someone lies about a fast because you can’t fake that grin of someone who actually did it.
So that’s what motivated me to vibe code something that looked like the right motivators to help people get to this feeling.
I wanted to write a sick thinkboi piece for a few weeks on vibe coding but the story is that this app works because a few hours before a demo day hackathon presentation, I desperately messaged a bitcoin & NOSTR anon Ray for help and he was like “ok”.
After the agreed upon engagement when I didn’t hear from him after a few hours I withdrew him from GitHub and Replit.
It turns out I didnt hear from him because he was actually just working on something that wouldn’t embarrass my family and he lost a night’s sleep doing it.
So the thinkboi post here is just that this app works because Ray is as good as they come as a developer and a human I only had the ability to message someone this talented with the same values as me because of Bitcoin and NOSTR.
Definitely vibe code just vibe friend real devs to help you at some point.
Hell yeah. I’m using it right now - finishing up my 3 day fast, it’s been an awesome experience.
Also, so cool to experience an app that’s brand new, and getting built in real time, and around something like fasting (I don’t like the app zero anymore).
