Again, this is not a verse I encountered in my daily Bible reading but it is one I am very familiar with because it is the theme verse of the Gideons and it encourages us that there is always merit in sharing God's word because we can be confident that God will use his word to accomplish his purposes:

so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

I did not encounter this in today's Bible reading but it is one of my favorites. It's a concise statement of what God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ did for us:

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

I love both James White and R.C. Sproul. The book debate to which I referred earlier was between James White and Dave Hunt. Another favorite is John MacArthur. I have also been blessed by John Piper's books and teaching.

I became Reformed sometime after I got saved. I read a book which was a debate between Calvinism and for lack of a better word, Arminianism thinking that I leaned toward Arminianism (probably an American cultural default) and was convinced by the biblical arguments to support Tulip.
