My read of the Swan website is BitGo does the Bitcoin custody and fortress does the fiat custody. Hence why they are using two custodians. Open to correction if that’s in error.

Oversimplified Summary: A US court agrees BitGo could not provide audited financial statements for 2021. They’re also buying Prime Trust which appears to have spectacularly failed for reasons no one will publicly admit.

Question: Why should I trust them or businesses that use them as a custodian? This makes me extremely hesitant to use them until a clear explanation is public. #[0] #[1] #[2] Care to comment?

This seems to reinforce the River, Cash App, and Strike model of insourcing the custodial piece. Maybe that’s a potential conflict of interest, but I’ll take a conflict over the “money gone” that just almost happened at Prime Trust and BitGo not being able to put together an audited financial statement with $1B on the line.

Frankly it’s frustrating that certain people seem to know the story, but won’t share. This is info people need to make intelligent decisions in the Bitcoin space. #bitcoin #plebchain

What if somebody made a nostr micro app that looked at your reactions and sent a zap every time you had a reaction. This wouldn’t need to be in Damus, but because Apple will allow lightning wallet integration, and zaps based on profiles, but not posts, you can still put in your address and do a wallet connect. But then users could use a service, using nostr, but not created by any of the developers working with apple, to do a zaps for reactions service.

Should be pretty easy to do with Nostr Wallet Connect, no?

The only downside is I bet Apple probably wouldn’t let you link to or mention it in the app…

Isn’t that pretty much exactly what wallet context is? A “zap” is just an event that another service reads and sends a lightning transaction on your behalf (after giving it permissions)

I decided to dive in to Apples App Store Review Guidelines. The following bullets related to in-app purchases (Chapter 3.1.1) makes me thing there should be a creative solution to fix this.

Just spitballing but this is my Curren train of thought, without technological barriers.

Bullet 2; Apps may use in-app purchase currencies to enable customers to “tip” the developer or digital content providers in the app.

Idea - Buy sats via in-app purchases.

Pro - Keep on zapping ⚡️

Con - 15-30% premium on your sats 🤬

Bullet 3; Any credits or in-game currencies purchased via in-app purchase may not expire, and you should make sure you have a restore mechanism for any restorable in-app purchases.

Idea - Make sats refundable doesn’t say it has to go trough the App. Could make just go to your own wallet.

Pro - Easy?

Con - Not certain if that’s allowed

Bullet 4; Apps may enable gifting of items that are eligible for in-app purchase to others. Such gifts may only be refunded to the original purchaser and may not be exchanged.

Idea - This could be te way you send each other Zaps. Zaps would be gifted items someone bought trough in-app purchases.

Pro - Keep on Zapping

Con - Iteration issues and again 15-30% premium on your sats 🤬

Bullet 5; Apps distributed via the Mac App Store may host plug-ins or extensions that are enabled with mechanisms other than the App Store.

Idea - Blank on this but maybe someone else has an idea

Pro - ?

Con - ?

Bullet 6; Apps offering “loot boxes” or other mechanisms that provide randomized virtual items for purchase must disclose the odds of receiving each type of item to customers prior to purchase.

Idea - Also no idea on this but maybe someone else does

Pro - ?
