The Guru's Grace (spiritual teacher) is both external and internal. From the outside, he pushes the mind inwards, and from the inside he pulls the mind towards the Self and helps it keep quiet. That is the grace. There is no difference between God, guru and Self. A guru's help is necessary and useful to start you on the inquiry, but you yourself must pursue it.

All your needs will come to and end with

Self-realization.

Otherwise, you will not be satisfied even if you want the emperor of the whole universe!

Once a blind woman was coming from a well at night with a pitcher of water in her hand and a lighted lantern in her hand. A man met her on the way and said, "How stupid, you are blind so why carry a lantern?" The blind woman said, "It is so you will not knock me down." Our sadhana (spiritual practice) is our lantern that lights our way and keeps us on the path even if we're blind.

You are caught up in Maya.

You are playing the game.

You are still involved in the Leela.

You're feeling things.

You're reacting to things.

You're arguing about things.

You're debating things.

With the mind gone, misery is gone, and suddenly you are full of energy.

And the energy needs expression, sharing; it wants to become a song, a dance, a celebration. That is compassion: you start sharing.

Become totally empty. Quiet the restlessness of the mind. Only then will you witness everything unfolding from emptiness.'

Deep down inside, each of us knows we have no idea what's going on. We don't know. We don't know why we occupy this body. We don't know when we are born, where we came from.

Don't know why we are on this planet. We don't know. Nobody knows. So what we do very interestingly, is we pretend we know. Some people take it quite vigorously. They take on a set of beliefs. They are ready to fight over them or kill over them. Abuse other people over them. And that reinforces their beliefs. The question isn't, "I need to figure this out." The question is actually here [pointing to his abdomen.] What am I? What is this? What is true nature? In asking this question we are opening ourselves up. Zen practices itself is actually a self actualization practice. It's not dependent on anything else. It's up to each one of us to self actualize. If deep down inside we don't know, then really the self actualization is becoming completely comfortable with not knowing. That's what human beings are. - Zen Master #BonHaeng

Master Lianchi of the Ming Dynasty recorded a story in the Record of the Worship of the Monks: Master Guangxiaoan of the Song Dynasty was the abbot of Qingtai Temple. One day, the Zen master saw two monks talking while leaning against a railing. At first, a celestial being was guarding them and listening respectfully, but soon the celestial being left. Then a ghost appeared and mocked them with disdain. After the Zen master came out of meditation, he asked the reason and learned that the two monks were discussing Buddhism at the beginning, so the celestial being guarded and listened, but later they started to chat about family matters and even talked about accepting financial offerings, so the celestial being left. The ghost also felt disgusted with them and mocked them. From then on, Master Guangxiaoan never discussed worldly matters for the rest of his life.

In ancient times, practitioners traveled around for the sake of life and death. Once they met a teacher or friend who was worth learning from, they would eagerly ask for the Buddhist principles of liberation, and had no time to discuss other trivial matters. However, most monks now spend the whole day chatting about useless things and engaging in worldly affairs, without considering that ghosts and gods are always around, what will they do? This situation is really worrying, and practitioners should always be vigilant, as careful as walking on thin ice or facing the abyss.

Patriarch #Bodhidharma said: Without using words, transmitting outside the teachings, pointing directly to the human mind, seeing Buddha nature and becoming Buddha. You are the one who practices, you will understand it, if you are fascinated by these wonderful teachings, that wonderful teaching... you are still occupied by thoughts, still a slave. When you see the pure state of mind together with Buddhas and all sentient beings, no different, you will truly be free from all judgments of all, no matter whose judgment it is.

The reason is because language is to express images. It cannot touch the purity of Buddha nature... if you want to be free.

Knowing a spiritual truth in your mind is just the first step. True transformation happens when you embody that truth in your daily life. Intellectual understanding alone won't bring you the peace, growth, or liberation you're seeking. It's about aligning your actions, thoughts, and emotions with that deeper wisdom. https://nostrcheck.me/media/4707c8fa26c025f3694dc0a62d45fe597f7819deb8a45abb894f22cffbecb777/b21bf80603f1ec2799adc8e16c11ddd836c9129c922c69a83a7c202776dd0531.webp
