A dreamer dreams a dream.
He sees the dream world with pleasures, pains. etc. But he wakes
up and then loses all interest in the dream world. So it is with the waking world also. Just as the dream-world, being only a part
of yourself and not different from you, ceases to interest you, so
also the present world would cease to interest you if you awake from this waking dream (samsara) and realize that it is a part of your Self, and not an objective reality.
Because you think that you are apart from the objects around you,
you desire a thing. But if you understand that the thing was only
a thought-form you would no longer desire it. #SriRamanaMaharshi
What is bhakti? To think of God.
That means: only one thought prevails to the exclusion of all other thoughts.
That thought is of God which is the Self or it is the Self surrendered unto God.
When He has taken you up nothing will assail you. The absence
of thoughts is bhakti. It is also mukti.

Liberation means only to remain aware of the Self. The Mahavakya,
'I am Brahman' is its authority. Though the 'I' is always experienced, yet one's attention has to be drawn to it. Then only knowledge dawns.
Mind is only the dynamic power (sakti) of the Self.

Just as the sun cannot be seen in a densely clouded sky, so one's own Self cannot be seen in a mind-sky which is darkened by a dense cloud of thoughts.

Call it by any name, God, Self, the Heart or the Seat of Consciousness, it is all the same.
The point to be grasped is this, that HEART means the very Core of one's being, the Centre, without which there is nothing whatever.
[The Heart] is the Centre of spiritual experience according to the testimony of Sages. The spiritual Heart-centre is quite different from the blood- propelling, muscular organ known by the same name. The spiritual Heart-centre is not an organ of the body. All that you can say of the Heart is that it is the very Core of your being, that [with] which you are really identical (as the word in Sanskrit literally means), whether you are awake, asleep or dreaming, whether you are engaged in work or immersed in Samadhi.
Truly speaking pure Consciousness is indivisible, it is without parts. It has no form and shape, no "within" and "without." There is no "right" or "left" for it. Pure Consciousness, which is the Heart, includes all; and nothing is outside or apart from it. That is the ultimate Truth.

Q: In turning the mind inwards, are we not still employing the mind?
A: Of course we are employing the mind. It is well known and admitted that only with the help of the mind can the mind be killed.
But instead of setting about saying there is a mind, and I want to kill it, you begin to seek the source of the mind, and you find the mind does not exist at all. The mind, turned outwards, results in thoughts and objects. Turned inwards, it becomes itself the Self.
