Optimizing for freedom. Learning and building every day. Pura Vida.

Trying to plan fishing charter day prior to conference 10th or 11th. #[0] info mentions it but did not indicate a boat that accepted BTC. Anyone know? Anyone want to join?

At place in Uvita. PV 💜 everyone.

Looks like the trip is only 350 nm each way, so sailing should be 3+ days. Wind looks favorable starting Wednesday.

Who has a sailboat? (Mine is 2000nm on the other side of the canal.)

I fear that a 300 person event will still make “hanging out with @jack” overwhelming. I don’t have anything important to say, just want to thank him for giving #nostr the nudge that brought me here

Will there be rides at the conference?

So, 1m is ok?

Learn more about Costa Rica before #nostrica

Today I present you our beloved "Isla del Coco" (Coco's -coconuts- Island).

We have our own treasure Island, with real pirates and treasure hunters! 🦜 ⚓ ☠️

Cocos Island is an island in the Pacific Ocean administered by Costa Rica, approximately 550 km (342 mi; 297 nmi) southwest of the Costa Rican mainland

It was a refuge for pirates and treasure hunters until 1994 when all missions were banned. Even a German lived there 19 years looking for the "treasure of Lima” and declared himself king of the island.

The island is UNESCO World Heritage Site, cradle of 50+ endemic species, and it is a treasure in itself.

About the "treasure of Lima treasure chest": it is said it contains the riches they (conquerors) had amassed since their conquest of the Inca Empire in the 16th century. They entrusted the British sea captain William Thompson to hide the treasure aboard his ship, the Mary Dear, and sail around until it was safe to return to Lima.

Instead, Thompson and his crew killed the Spanish viceroy’s guards and took off with the loot. When a Spanish ship captured the Mary Dear, the entire crew was executed except for Thompson and his first mate, who promised to reveal where they had buried the treasure. But when they reached Cocos Island, Thompson and his mate escaped into the jungle, and were never heard from again. Since then, more than 300 expeditions have tried—and failed—to find the Treasure of Lima. The lost haul, which reportedly included a life-size solid-gold image of the Virgin Mary encrusted in gems, is thought to be worth around $200 million today💎🔆🌀

It's said Satoshi himself lives in the Island, feeding on coconuts and wild animals. He is holding his keys engraved on a hidden stone inside a cave ...

Let's sail to the Island #[0] #[1] ?

That is a long sail (5 days with reasonable wind), but I’d come with!
