It's weird to see external people that are aligned with Nostr's goals and even the overall design to complain about petty bugs or small details -- well, even big issues.

The thing is: to whom are you complaining? Nostr isn't an organization trying to sell you anything, and if you are aligned with the goals then that supposed "Nostr problem" is also your problem so start trying to solve it. Thoughts on Trezor Safe 5 and Ledger Flex:

I like the UX improvements on both devices.

Nice improvements to Trezor's security model with Safe 3 and Safe 5. The addition of a secure element mitigates the old physical seed extraction vulnerability. Also, the chip in the Safe 5 mitigates glitching attacks and has additional anti-tamper features.

Safe 5 screen is slick and touchscreen + haptic feedback work exactly as I'd expect.

Ledger flex e-ink screen is also nice and I really hope the longevity of it is better than what we saw on Nano S devices with many experiencing screen failure after a few years.

On the complex bitcoin transaction signing performance side, Safe 5 is the fastest Trezor yet and is only exceeded by BitBox02.

Ledger, on the other hand, is looking to have worse signing performance than the Nano S Plus. SAD!

Props to both Ledger and Trezor for shipping new hardware that is compatible with existing APIs and SDKs. As a result, these devices were automatically usable with Casa's software!

Mine is the lack of elite theory that Bitcoiners have studied and/or discuss. Seems to be too far out there for Ancap-types who acknowledge natural hierarchies but then shy away from the reality of it.

Many seem to think we’ll have hyperbitcoinisation entirely without impetus - ie fiat money printing will do all the heavy lifting and we’ll just end up in this idyllic world where government is restrained because everyone has seen the light and adopted Bitcoin and they can’t print more. I assign a roughly 0.00001% chance to that outcome.

The heaviest weighted category in my view (with diverging paths at a certain point) is Bitcoin has a massive run and creates a new financial elite which could become a new social counter elite. This happens *well before* government is occupied by non-parasites who will be on a warpath for a wealthy but highly disorganised class of people who have the means to destroy them but lack the coordination.

That will be the time to plant Bitcoin’s flag for a new system. Not when status quo institutions have spilled our blood and were forced into joining and then co-opting our economic system - that’s FAR too late.

The only thing that matters is the demand for use as money. Everything else is speculation. Bitcoin has the network effect and the biggest onramps. Monero has had onramps shut down and faces regulatory pressure.

No one wants others to know exactly how much money they have. Its a liability because it allows enemies to calculate the cost of overcoming you. Even (especially) Blackrock will demand privacy eventually.

The Bitcoin price probably assumes that it will achieve an acceptable level of privacy eventually. If it doesn't then it will fail as money.
