The world is a deadly free for all the time. But productive people that don’t have their wealth stolen by government (warlords), aren’t told what they can and can’t do by government, can live much more productively and naturally. Defense of private property is simple and natural at the individual or familial levels. But hiring professionals would mitigate warlords in a free and open society.

It is easier and more profitable to defend property than to try to take it. So defense companies have an asymmetric advantage and can outcompete (and make profit doing so) attackers.

Private property ownership would act like a like an organism with a common goal and the individuals acting in their own self interest would collectively reject them. They would likely eventually end up in a desolate unclaimed wasteland where they belong. If someone wanted to take them in they could but usually doesn’t go well.

So if a city was ALL privately owned, then ownership could decide individually, “Hey, I don’t want these drug addicted criminals living on my property. They’re banished.” And that could be easily enforced by private ownership. Which is very likely since these people are criminals living from theft and violence and providing no value to anyone.

But since municipalities actually own the ground, all of the pseudo-owners (renters from those with the monopoly on violence) can’t make those decisions for themselves. The drug addicted / criminal transient population can retreat to the “public” slices of land (streets and alleys and parks) and circumvent the enforcement of land “owners” (renters).

Violation of true ownership by the state and impeding the rights of owners to enforce rules on private property has created compounding problems that have spiraled violently out of control.

This is the tragedy of the municipality - an unenforced no man’s land that perverts incentives of private ownership.

Has been for a while but finally people are waking up to it. I've been saying for a while that (at this point) democracy in the EU is an illusion maintained by national elections. Though the 27 member countries are obviously being ruled by the European central bank and an unelected commission.

I mean in the context of NOSTR, for the purpose of spam and noise reduction.

In the context of X, there is no need for a web of trust, because the platform itself is the one and only arbiter of what is allowed and disallowed.
