It will absorb water, only goes about halfway up. So it won’t float out :)
#grownostr #biochar #aquaponics seeing if crushed up biochar will stay in the plant basket during fill and drain session. Would be a great way to propagate cuttings and transplant nutrients in the soil.
Or does anyone know a fabric that wouldn’t disintegrate in aquaponics?
#grownostr #propagation #garden #aquaponics this is a aquatic plant basket from Home Depot. I place on broken biochar chunks and put cuttings in that media. You can see the roots are air pruning out the side, and should make a good transplant.
These cuttings have been in the system for a few months. The water is filled every 15 minutes, then drains during the day at night. It is turned off it is controlled with a simple, mechanical timer. The biochar also has accumulated nutrients, and I will include some with the new pot.
After transplanting, I will keep it in the shade for a few weeks and make sure that it’s watered very well .

And I’ve dumped a lot in the beds with no charging, 25% mix, working good :)
This is just to get the mulberry to root in the pot. It will charge in this as well, basically fills with 2” of water every 15 minutes during the day and drains.
#garden #grownostr #cucumber trellis I saw this idea online for two posts and string, just loop around your plants and posts. Simple and easy!

#garden #aquaponics #propagation #grownostr I enjoy making new plants with no chemicals or complicated/complex systems.
I’m currently propagating mulberry in my pond system. I’m always testing different methods to make plants.
Constant flow, flood and drain 15 minute timer. Different mediums, I’ll do hydroton clay balls, biochar chunky, biochar rice size, lavarock, soil.
I’ve had good success with flood and drain and all mediums , flow through has been OK, but some of them died.
The chunkybiochar works really well and is great to put in with your potted plant when transplanting.

I think I’m too lazy to transplant plants. Seeds only :)
#tesla #FSD #grownostr just had the car drive itself for 15 minutes through the suburbs. Overall a mind blowing experience, no issues.
Long term I’m not sure how taxi, rideshares survive.
#grownostr #keto
Cream cheese ok for Keto? What say you?
Are you building on raw land?
Nice, we’d love to move a little more north from Houston area. We don’t get the cold as much down here, maybe a hurricane though :)
#btc #grownostr I love this
Nice, maybe you’ll get the clips on Monday. I’m down by Houston
What part of Texas?
#garden #grownostr #shadecloth When should I lower my shade cloth for the year? Located in Texas…
#grownostr #mulberries So I got dwarf mulberry trees, I thought the tree didn’t grow very high… the fruit seems small about the size of an almond.
Which part is the dwarf size???
#grownostr #chickens days like today when I’m transitioning the beds to a new crop are when I wish I had chickens! Bunch of chop and drop for greens I can’t eat :)
Home Depot, Total Pond 10” Aquatic Plant Basket.
Super helpful to place all media in these, you can move them around easily.
#grownostr #aquaponics #biofilter here is another filter I added to the system. Running during the day, lava rock, pond baskets with mint, elderberry, mulberry cuttings.
Just runs continuous, once the mint takes root, should filter the water well. It is a medium concrete tray from home depot.
I have a 1/2” bulkhead with a male pvc fitting on top. That keeps the water level about 1/2” high.
The pump to pvc is 1/2 “ irrigation tubing, into a 1/2” pvc female, 3/4” T slip.
