Hey all, #newhere on #nostr and trying to figure out how this all works. I get the gist with relays and whatnot, just trying to turn it into a practical, enjoyable experience. Any recommendations for finding content and users I'm interested in? I'm guessing a lot of it will boil down to refining my relay list. Thanks to those with advice!

Crony capitalism is just capitalism plus time. Those able to gain excessive wealth will inevitably use it to gain power and even more wealth. That's just basic game theory, the same thing Bitcoin used to lay out its incentive structure to keep miners, nodes, and users honest. Capitalism has no such incentive structure, so it will always inevitably yield economic juggernauts who will throw their weight around and crush honest competition with dishonest tactics. Under capitalism, you disavow kings but merely replace them with CEOs ruling over highly splintered and sometimes overlapping fiefdoms.

I think the egalitarian nature trends among just about any group that deals with oppression. Those not afforded rights typically find that unjust, and rightly so. In denying women the right to vote, you seek to rule them without allowing them any say in how they are ruled. You set yourself above them by virtue of something other than actual merit because you fear you have no other way to do so.
I guess it's easier to ignore a woman's opinion than it is to mold yourself into someone they'd have a positive opinion of. Misogyny is a skill issue. Those who are actually competent don't feel threatened by women with opinions or skills.
