Just because no atheist group in the past survived long enough to even be called a civilization doesn't mean you can blame war on religion.
Religion has thousands of years of empirical evidence to show that it produces stable societies.
Atheism is the new experiment people trust without verifying, and so far it has mostly showed that without God people put the state where God should be.
Most real state investment is people getting loans from the bank which is printing money to get the property.
