Former D1 wrestler helping grapplers build strength, health & resilience — on and off the mat.

Had 8 jiujitsu matches today:

- Went 2-1 in nogi absolute (no weight classes, all belts)

- Won nogi blue belt 170lb division

Great learning experience! Back to the drawing board

First jiujitsu competitiin tomorrow. Let's go!

Can I just plug it into the modem and turn off the routers then?

Wanting turn off my WiFi at night, but I have a node running. Any thoughts how/if I can keep it running with WiFi off?

Finally learning how to build on nostr thanks to the pleblab course on udemy :). What should I try to build first?

Finally got my hands on some raw milk! Interested to see if it makes any noticeable changes in my sleep, energy, and skin.

If you're looking for some near you, check out my latest post https://www.jordanlaster.com/how-to-find-raw-milk/

I've been experimenting with nutrition and fitness for years to find what works best for me. I decided to start sharing some of my experiments. Check out my revamped website if you want to follow along!

I'm looking to learn from others as well 💪

If I want to build a web app with on-chain and lightning capabilities, what libraries do people recommend?

Been eyeing BDK and LDK, but wondering if anything else worthwhile is out there

I started solo mining recently with a FutureBit miner and ckpool.

My setup is simple: I have a future bit miner plugged into a raspberry pi. The raspberry pi is connected to a monitor.

In all of my solo mining fun, I wanted to find an easy way to visualize ckpool and user stats on the monitor connected to my raspberry pi.

So I created one using the streamlit python package.

It makes it easy to build dashboards, apps, etc with python.

You can deploy apps via streamlit/other platforms and run them locally.

It's cool stuff and easy enough for anyone to start and finish a project in no time.

All my dashboard does is display and prettify the general and user information available via ckpool.

You can find it here: https://buddylasta-solo-viz-appsolo-stats-o19ku8.streamlit.app/

If you want to run it locally, check out the repo:

It's a simple dashboard, but hopefully those of you solo mining with ckpool will find it useful.

Just finished it yesterday. Couldn't agree more. Most eye-opening book I've read in awhile

Mother's Day Weekend Mission Accomplished ✅

- Teach mom about seed phrases + passphrase

- Set her up with a hardware wallet

- Set up a node on a raspberry pi

- Show her how to use both

- Field A LOT of questions

- Watch her use it all herself

Bonus

- She's using Amethyst :)

One anology that helped her significantly was imagining a hardware wallet as a key to her bitcoin vault. Creating a passphrase creates a new vault.

Within each vault, each account is a safety deposit box. She can label each safety deposit box on her hardware and software wallets.

Was a tough process, but really awesome to see it all click by the end 🙌

No better way to workout than combat sports

How much does running a pruned vs full bitcoin core node on a VPS roughly cost? Looking to run one for learning and data analysis purposes

In 2017, I graduated college and started working as a sales and marketing rep at a startup.

I always wanted to learn how to write code (any language) and even tried in college. It was far too difficult with my wrestling obligations and other courses.

During my 1.5yrs in sales and marketing, I started learning a little SQL and python on codeacademy because I knew our engineering team used them on a daily basis.

After expressing the desire to join the engineering team and making dozens of shitty Python jokes in Slack, I was given the opportunity to become a data analyst.

It's been 4 years since I began my foray into data analytics and now software development.

That's an alright amount of time in the space, but I still feel like a noob in some sense because I don't really know how computers work, but I can make them do all sorts of cool things.

I recently saw some high praises for the book Code: The Hidden Language of Computer Hardware and Software by Charles Petzold and decided to get it. So far it seems very promising!

What are some other resources I can use to improve my understanding of computers and how they work?

First time using Replit and learned how to start developing Nostr clients!

Shoutout to The Grape on YouTube for his awesome tutorial. Definitely recommend if you don't know where to start.

Finally tried out Replit. Helluva platform! Definitely spending a lot more time on it going forward

Goals this weekend:

- go through nostr-tools tutorial

- go through "Building a mobile app with react-native tutorial"

- go through python + ai beginner

A bit scattered but it'll come together nicely

I FINALLY got my Futurebit Apollo miner to work with a raspberry pi! Exclusively solo mining with this. The heat is great for my cold basement room, too
