Good morning.

I spent most of yesterday working on a new Nostr article that I have in development, among other work.

Obviously, I had to take breaks from time to time to check the breaking news regarding the assassination attempt, since it was being reported on over the course of a few hours and was generational-scale news that can affect many things.

But after each break once I was caught up, I put my head back down and got back to work on the article, including going through Nostr's Github and stuff.

It's easy to get mired in shock news, but after a bit of time to see what happened, any further time spent beyond that is just chasing dopamine and shock value without anything new learned. At that point, it's best to get back to constructive work, or get back to enjoying life with your friends and family.

Don't let the algorithm control you. Become the algorithm.

I really dislike social media algorithms and incentives. Negative stuff is what sells.

There are so many times where I sit down with a good host and have a thoughtful discussion about macro finance, and then the Youtube title and thumbmail that their producer makes is some version of me smiling next to a terrible headline and often something on fire or blowing up.

The bond market used to be the smart money, and despite the fact that the era of that is long over, it still rides on that reputation.

And mainly why it is over is that it’s just too damn big. The sheer amount of supply outstanding, and the sheer amount of supply coming to market every month, means that even the smart bond trader hedge funds who can forecast and position for things aren’t big enough to move the market much. Instead the bond market is a titan that moves in real time based on flows. The bond market is a laggard now, not a forecaster.

They’re all seagulls at this point.
