What about the beat poets and John Cage and the quality of education (relative to now)--it was a time of emerging creative breakthrough with manners and dignity. There are qualities about the 50's that I miss--but I understand what you mean.

I was born in 1963 and influenced by the 50s since it was still in the mix, culture wise. I can relate.

GM Rex--right off the bat, I feel lung expansion -- fresh air, fresh breath, pure clear water--blue ice. I see someone in the lotus position with wings and I also see a small figure on a land bridge--at the crown on the larger figure. At the top I see a glowing mountain. This is so inspirational! --it feels like enlightenment. It reminds of the movie Lost Horizon.
