I was alive in the 1950s...

I've been continuously horrified since about 1990...😜

I was born in 1963 and influenced by the 50s since it was still in the mix, culture wise. I can relate.

Nothing about the 1950s sounds appealing to me except the strength of the economy

What about the beat poets and John Cage and the quality of education (relative to now)--it was a time of emerging creative breakthrough with manners and dignity. There are qualities about the 50's that I miss--but I understand what you mean.

To me the cons severely outweigh the pros. Plus, its hard to ignore the fact that this was the time when the most destruction was done to the homesteading way of life with RAPID suburbanization.

All good points. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I do understand.

Plus, for me personally there is the hell that is needing to hide who I am as a bisexual man and facing the looming threat of violence for simply being bisexual.

I'm croaking contentedly

Cuz the water's getting warm and I'm feeling kinda sleepy.

We were already in the pot by the 1950s and the heat was already turned on. The fiat money system was firmly in place, the Fed was already established and tho there still was a gold standard, it didnt mean much cuz the USD had already been revalued multiple times. The military industrial complex was in full swing and Big Pharma and Big Food were taking a stronghold. It was the beginning of the end. We just didnt know it yet.
