So now I know- if a recipe calls for 2 cups cooked quinoa... "Before you begin cooking, you need to figure out how much cooked quinoa you want to end up with. Quinoa increases three times in size when cooked, so if you want to end up with 3 cups of cooked quinoa, measure out 1 cup of dry quinoa. If you want 2 cups of cooked quinoa, measure out 2/3 cup of dry quinoa, etc." #quinoa #cookingtips
Whatever happens, stay alive.
Don't die before you're dead.
Don't lose yourself, don't lose hope, don't lose direction. Stay alive, with yourself, with every cell of your body, with every fiber of your skin.
Stay alive, learn, study, think, read, build, invent, create, speak, write, dream, design.
Stay alive, stay alive inside you, stay alive also outside, fill yourself with colors of the world, fill yourself with peace, fill yourself with hope.
Stay alive with joy.
There is only one thing you should not waste in life, and that's life itself.

1. Slice a tomato and plant the slices in seed starting soil.
2. Cover the slices with moist soil.
3. Place a lid over the container to create a humid environment.
4. Once you see the seeds germinate, remove the lid. 5. Let the plants grow until they are ready to transplant." #gardening #homesteading

Credit : Home and Gardening Tips (Facebook) "I did a little experiment with sprouting cucumber seeds in soil blocks. In the left half of the tray, I put the radical (root side) down and on the right side I put the radical (root side) up. For a long time now, I have noticed that old weak seed has difficulty pushing the hard seed coat off the leaves once the seedling emerges from the soil (the picture I drew demonstrates what often happens with old weak seed). This is why, contrary to what many others say, I always plant my Cucurbit seedlings with the radical at least partially up and the hard seed coat down so that the leaves can pull from the seed coat in the moist soil prior to emergence." #gardening #homesteading

Fluoride Action Network: " BIG NEWS - Today, NTP authors published a new article in JAMA Pediatrics detailing their report released in Aug 2024 that concluded fluoride can lower the IQ of children. Today’s study goes further, showing fluoride lowers child IQ at exposures seen in fluoridated communities." #detox #Fluoride #JAMA

“The best thing for being sad,” replied Merlin, beginning to puff and blow, “is to learn something. That’s the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then — to learn.
Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the only thing for you. Look what a lot of things there are to learn.”

"Here's to the bridge-builders, the hand-holders, the light-bringers, those extraordinary souls wrapped in ordinary lives who quietly weave threads of humanity into an inhumane world. They are the unsung heroes in a world at war with itself. They are the whisperers of hope that peace is possible. Look for them in this present darkness. Light your candle with their flame. And then go. Build bridges. Hold hands. Bring light to a dark and desperate world. Be the hero you are looking for. Peace is possible. It begins with us!"

“Things I wish to never lose:
my passion,
my dreams,
my childlike spirit,
the little things that keep me going,
my curiosity to keep wondering and questioning,
my ability to get up again even when I wish not to,
the art within my soul,
the power to love against all the hatred around,
and most of all my capability to adapt,
accept,
change,
and my will to learn and heal.”

“At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person.
Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” #Thankyou

PS to Okra water post--I saw this comment and think it is useful to share. "around 5-7 okras remove the ends the cut in half. It should stay in the fridge overnight. Better to prepare in the afternoon then drink early in the morning before eating breakfast." -RL Agaton
