I always thought that if we were ever going to be invaded it'd be in our oceans.
There is some crazy shit down there let alone the stuff we haven't discovered yet.
It's definitely different but it's also out of the control of the cranky whims of billionaires, which is a nice change.
Also: You can almost feel the relays relaying which... is actually kind of charming.
The question becomes though, at this point, what are we actually supposed to do about it short of going to live in a cave somewhere? The billions, if not trillions, of dollars of infrastructure that has been built up around us is fully online and only getting more efficient and effective.
I'm wide open to ideas.
Looking at how the J6 narrative played out, I suspect that they've been moving about as close to full-blown incitement as they dare. If a few hotheads -- or, more likely, carefully groomed letter agency stooges -- pop off then that likely helps them as they've shown competency in spinning that narrative for their cause.
People have also been conditioned post-COVID to conflate legitimate protest as selfish self-interest and people unwilling to suffer 'for the greater good'.
Knowing that the media is happy for any excuse to inflame passions in this arena, I'm not sure how effective a protest might ultimately be unless you were somehow manage to make it a bi-partisan issue. Maybe bring in a bunch of Centrists with rational arguments against the growing spread of government overreach and tyranny.
Thinking of how aggressively the US has attacked potential new, competitive currencies in the past - the Gold Dinar comes to mind - I'm kind of shocked that the US and its allies haven't pushed back harder against cryptos in general.
What's the situation like inside Russia?
How easy is it to use Bitcoin in Russia for day-to-day things?
IMHO, #BTC needs to find a way to stabilize and/or decouple from fiat currencies in order to successfully become a truly successful currency.
It's so hard for regular BTC hodlers, let alone normies, to justify spending Bitcoin knowing that they could wake up tomorrow with another $10,000 pizza situation. Sadly, that volatility is a real albatross on the usage aspect.
Even the #Bitcoin people that I know openly say things like "Spend fiat, save BTC." Which doesn't really help adoption or growth, unfortunately.

I am a Shibe that is actively working at being Good.

Yeah, it could be because we were trying pretty hard to 'look in each other's eyes' as we were talking... Which, honestly, I'm sure didn't help.
Have you seen any promising tech in this regard?
I hope you all don't mind a friendly #Dogecoin Shibe hanging out here. I get that this is primarily a #Bitcoin focused space but I hope that we can be friends.
Always open for hearty, good-faith discussions and to learn more about #Nostr and what's new with #BTC!
Cheers!
Nothing fancy, we were experimenting with a Duo call and trying to talk to each other but while trying to maintain eye contact, just to see what it'd be like. It was very, very weird lol

Just posting this to confirm that my @GoodShibe Twitter profile, through my own being dumb, is probably permanently locked. You'll find me posting on here and Reddit now pretty much entirely unless something magic happens.
In my experience it is hella weird looking at someone in the eyes through a phone. I think it's because the action is stilted and forced where IRL human interaction relies more on a massive amount of subtle cues and bits of direct and indirect eye contact to emphasize points.
Being involved in cryptocurrency, the one of the biggest issues with organizing is sharing accurate, sensitive information across sometimes diffuse, decentralized spaces - especially surrounded by bad or even malicious actors.
Nostr seems like an interesting solution but we kind of might benefit from a decentralized AP news wire with multiple... inputs and outlets? A way of sending out 'accurate' information - maybe bundled with supporting documents?
Of course that is more than likely to be an incredible nightmare to build and easily, horribly, horribly misused and abused but it might be a useful 'in case of emergency' feature...?
Just thinking out loud...
I personally feel that focusing on VR is more like we're handing the keys of the Kingdom to tyrants so that we can go play where our actions don't matter.
It also hands over incredible amounts of control to them because once they have then finished getting what they want... they can turn our toys off.
I know you've suffered incredible amounts because you tried to do the right thing - and I hold deep admiration for you because of that. If anything, the lesson that I learned from you is that the real world is worth fighting for. No, you won't get 'everyone' but if your message and work is true, it will resonate where it needs to.
Nice to see you on here and I hope that you're doing well!
What's one thing that you can't wait to be able to pay for with #Dogecoin?
Pfft vacation? Since when are people allowed to take breaks? Crack the whip, back to the cubical! LOL

I'm not getting any notifications on my phone when I get a message. Have to open app and manually refresh
Any progress on this front? It'd really make this app far, far more useful.
