Anyone got any insight as to what is going on with the lightning crackdown? Bitcoin is supposedly property per the IRS, but somehow money for the purposes of violating money transmission laws. Courts of course haven’t ruled on anything yet and won’t for a long time…courts aren’t the most efficient way to legislate new tech, but I guess that’s how it’s gonna be…

No doubt there is a business opportunity/ profit motive to trickling out endless speculation pieces. Maybe a government psyop, but I’m not sure why. Maybe WW3 will involve some pretty spectacular technology and aliens will be the cover story.

Anyhow, the US solved its debt problem with WW2, with Bretton woods coming about a decade after FDR defaulted on gold/dollar ratio. I suspect WW3 was allowed to start to solve the debt problem in a similar fashion.

Anyone remember the old bitcoin idea called “firstbits”?

The basic idea was that the first few bits of a bitcoin address are sufficient to uniquely identify a (previously used) bitcoin address and you could use something like autocomplete inside a wallet or web app…I haven’t seen anyone doing this in many years.

Hot take: While bitcoin would logically lead to the elimination of fiat, the tax consequences of selling bitcoin and the tax advantages of borrowing against bitcoin that continually increases in value will guarantee fiat will exist in perpetuity.

Violence is a people problem. There’s no such thing as gun violence, knife violence, etc. Such wording is just a lie to make laws aimed at making victims seem to make sense.

Yeah. The US illegally restricts our use of short barreled shotguns and rifles on the theory that because they are not military weapons, they can’t be protected by the second amendment. But some state ban weapons because they are military weapons, or like such weapons, because they are ignorant of the law.

But since justice takes generations when it comes to firearms, people literally will die in prison before “shall not be infringed” is defined by a court of law.
