I’m a podcast addict, although admittedly there aren’t many left that get my attention or appeal to me anymore. But some episodes, often from the past, man I don’t know exactly why, I re-listen to from time to time over and over again and they never lose their vibrancy. They seem to be timeless. I think it’s the relaxed energy, the authenticity and deep dives in a multitude of different things - often with a small portion of philosophy - what makes them so appealing to me. But unfortunately the very most podcasts these days seem to have turned into sales-brochures, self-adulation and sycophancy. Whether the mainstreamification ruined it or I’m just getting old and being haunted by nostalgia (a feeling which I always hate-loved).

He makes some very good points about Bitcoin’s lack of privacy, how exchanges have data about their users & share them with governments & why AI will make linking transactions much easier.
He also explains why metadata is enough to construct an entire story about your daily habits – they don’t have to know the specifics of what you buy and why, they already see with whom you are transacting and building a profile.
I can’t believe people don’t talk about this more!!!

Bitcoin maximalism used to mean “this network is the most robust, so every successful experiment that has market demand will be built on top of it”.
It somehow degenerated into “anything but this one network is a scam, so we’ll ignore markets by calling participants scammers & frown upon different tech by calling it scammy for even being developed”
Will Bitcoin’s layer 1 get replaced with something else that secures the network in perpetuity, as the coins only get transferred on an L2?
