A really fantastic piece from the people at wedobitcoin.co.za. Great technology takes things from that’s ‘just how we do stuff’, to ‘oh my good goodness, I can’t believe no-one thought of this before’. Fax machines were around for a long time before they became mainstream. I mean, ‘the postal service works just fine’ why do I need a fax machine?’ Followed by ‘why email? The fax works just fine’. This is what lightning payments are. Following the simple steps in the article you can be ready to receive payments in the time it takes you to install an app and print out a QR code. Everyone should just play around with it for fun. Send a payment to your Dad for Fathers Days. He’ll get a kick out of it.

Amen brother. I recently took a domestic flight in the USA and was really reminded how impossibly stupid this is. I’m curious to know how many terrorists have been caught since 9/11 by TSA. It’s been over 20 years. nostr:note14zp58wqdvdeh6skna5kgxtk6n82ctjd2hkjqtvgkrs8grsh43utqe96rsh

I remember before there were apps. People did the same thing with mobile phones - looking for new features and functions. Apps came along and no one cared about the phone anymore, as long as your 5 favorite apps worked. For me, that was when technology was replaced by community. nostr:note152609lgkamcey5kq5qka6y4023kh7cxxvg54gkn0hpndm6k0cfzsjcta3z

ChatBTC and Bitcoin.org are pretty useful. Looks slick and clean. Noobs have responded well.

My favorite takeaway from this talk: ‘Information is surprise. If you flip a coin with heads on both sides, you get no information. It’s only when you don’t know what you will get, is it information.’

Picked up this little gem at the local library. The perfect visual accompaniment to the text. #1984

It's been 24 years now, and I've heard a lot of rock songs and watched their videos, but I'm not sure that any of them hit me harder than Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down in 2000 when I was 12 years old.

It doesn't even touch most of my favorite sub-tropes, but it touches on the broadest tropes of heroism and valor, and very well done.

I was reminded of it due to coming across a cover from several years ago:

If I have to pick an all-time favorite band, I'd say Linkin Park.

If I have to pick an all-time favorite song and video, back when music videos were more of a thing, I might have to say Kryptonite. Something about it hits really deep. It's about like, undesired heroism. The most raw form of heroism. It's probably the key song that got me into rock when I was 12 and it's still great.

Your note got me thinking about my story. My earliest music memories are of my mom playing ABBA and The Carpenters when I was very young. She would put on a record while doing house work. Karen Carpenters voice gives me chills to this day. The first album that made a big impression on me was Gun’s ‘n Roses Appetite for Destruction. A friend gave me a copy on a cassette and I thought it was pretty crap the first time I listened to it. I took it with me on holiday and listened to it over and over. Slowly the rhythm seeped into me and it became a favorite. But I can tell you exactly where I was standing when I heard Smells like Teen Spirit for the first time. It’s still so clear and I can smell the room I was standing in. It took me a week to find out who the artist was (the good old days of broadcast radio). I’ve never been a lyric guy, it’s the whole sound that I love and the voice is the lead instrument, not the words. I can never pick out a favorite artist or song - there are just too many styles and flavors to choose just one. That’s the beauty of music - it’s the universal language - the language of the soul

There’s life in the old girl yet. The new Home is up and running. The old raspi pi is now a 2nd nostr:npub1aghreq2dpz3h3799hrawev5gf5zc2kt4ch9ykhp9utt0jd3gdu2qtlmhct server for all the fun things I didn’t want on the Bitcoin node. The kids now have tons of backup space - no longer need iCloud 👍👍

I’ve tested this in my own business. It won’t be long before it’s the only payment businesses will accept. Final settlement and near-zero transaction fees. nostr:note1xetsqlqx3rtdv3j0k0ga587faywejdwfjrdghhypprarh5vzndpqrudwt6

Just looking back at pics of Nashville during the Bitcoin Conference. What a city! This was my first time there and it was better than I imagined it to be.

Thank you to everyone who listens to my show. Seriously. I appreciate the heck out of each and everyone one of you.

I will continue to do my best to bring you value.

Fantastic work. I’ve been listening to your show only recently but it’s become one of my top go-to’s.

While human achievement can be passed on through the generations, human experience cannot. This is why we have better stuff as time goes on. But no one else can experience your first kiss, your first heartbreak, your first paycheck, for you. Remember that.

Short and punchy. More of this is needed to help get corporates onboard. nostr:note1lvww9m68z5xnq8z9ed8kegtl35zf796hg43hxjd5gxs30psu24hqgvkprt
