Enabling auto-updates is dangerous, yet I see so many #privacy #cybersecurity focused individuals recommending it.

You are giving whoever controls the updates full control over your software. With auto-updates, it is possible to:

🔸 Insert backdoors, spyware, and malware.

🔸 Add unnecessary features.

🔸 Remove features, make unwanted changes.

🔸 Add new bugs.

🔸 Use users like guinea pigs with shit like A/B testing.

🔸 Whatever else malicious developers want to do.

This is especially dangerous for browser extensions. It's common for developers of extensions to receive a ton of emails from "companies" trying to purchase their extensions for thousands of dollars. The goal? To do malicious stuff with the users who have them already installed.

Auto-updates can, and will be used for malicious stuff. Keep control of your software by making sure updating is always done manually.

You make a good points. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. But hey, my old Twitter account had no followers, no comments, no likes, and my follow list was private, yet, I still got spammed with DMs and notifications of scammers tagging me.

Personally, I don't bother with the global feed. I'm only interested in the posts from people I follow and the topics/tags that i care about.

Free relays not keeping notes in storage forever is a good thing, some folks might not want their posts hanging around online indefinitely.

I love #Tor, but it's a pain to use for everyday browsing. The speed is really slow, and you have to deal with endless captchas that are annoying as hell. Plus, many websites don't work properly on Tor. For most people and use cases, a #VPN is enough.

#Brave browser is literally spyware, yet I see so many #privacy focused individuals recommending it.

Nostr is mostly for #Bitcoiners, #Cypherpunks and tech-savy people. Crypto scammers won't bother with Nostr because none of their 50 IQ scams would work here.

Regarding IPs, id rather trust the relays that i choose and are ran by plebs like me, than big tech anti-freedom overlords.

You don't have to pay for any relay, you can self-host your own relay, backup all your notes, and broadcast them at any time to new relays in case you get banned.

I've been using #Nostr for a while and i only had to mute 1 bot so far. My DMs are clean. If i were on Twitter my notifications would be spammed with crypto scammers tagging me, the fact that Elon doesn't fix that is beyond me.

Imagine saying #nostr is bad for #privacy while using Twitter as your main social media.

Go on search bar, type a hashtag of something that you have interest on, and follow people from there. You can also make certain hashtags show up on your feed, for example you could follow #monero and all posts containing that hashtag would show up on your feed. I know its not as good as Twitter, but we will get there with time. Don't give up on #Nostr, a lot of people like your content and don't want to use Twitter to see it, why not mirror everything to Nostr?

Twitter Bitcoin "influencers" don't really care about #Bitcoin or #Freedom, they just pretend. Otherwise they would have jumped to #Nostr, or at the very least, mirror posts on both places, manually or with a bot.

Nostr clients are getting decent, #Snort and #Primal for example are very identical to Twitter UI/UX. And you can find content via hashtags.

Its okey. Don't use #Nostr then. Go back to Twitter and pray Elon doesn't ban/shadowban you. Have fun getting your DMs bombarded with crypto scams, have fun getting crypto scam ads non-stop on your feed, have fun having scammers commenting on all your posts, have fun wasting money for a blue checkmark, have fun having your phone number attached to your account. You may have more likes/comments/views on Twitter, but remember – its mostly bots.

DARK MODE SHOULD BE THE DEFAULT FOR ALL WEBSITES.

It doesn't need to be pure black. A dark shade of any color would work too. The cancerous white background being commonly accepted as the default is beyond me.

I'm fed up with getting flashbanged every time I open some random website. Browser extensions aren't the answer, they're just a band-aid solution.

Your mind is the safest place to store your #Bitcoin seedphrase.

Nobody can see it. Nobody can steal it. It's always with you, easily accessible, anytime, just a second away.

Everything in the physical realm can be taken away from you – your paper money, your property, your car, your phone, your clothes.

Even your your hair, fingers, eyes, organs. Even your children. Even your freedom. Everything can be taken from you.

Including your human brain. But not the inner realm within it – your mind: thoughts, dreams, knowledge, memories. Nothing can be stolen from that realm. It's the only place where you truly own everything, the only place that no one can spy on, and the only place that no one can steal anything from.

Memorize your #Bitcoin seedphrase and keep your brain healthy.

#Monero is hot potato money. Nobody wants to hold it for too long, because it bleeds value. Those who hold it end up impoverishing themselves over time.

I'm bullish on #nitter shutting down.

If you're a #bitcoiner or someone who values #freedom, there's absolutely no reason to use Twitter while #nostr exists.

All #cypherpunks are on Nostr. The only "influencers" posting exclusively on Twitter are scammers, shitcoiners, traders and people who only care about ETFs and fiat prices.

To improve your nostr experience, simply visit the settings of your client and mute the words:

🔸 'gm'

🔸 'gn'

🔸 'good morning'

🔸 'good night'

🔸 'etf'

You can thank me later! 🧡

VPNs and privacy services that accept #Monero also accept #Bitcoin as well. Show me a privacy service i should use that accepts #XMR and not #BTC.

If #Monero had the same adoption as Bitcoin, no one would be able to run full nodes due blockchain size.

I have my life savings on this thing, I don't want frequent developments and hard forks, like on Monero. Stagnation (or Ossification) is a good thing.

Privacy on Bitcoin is not complicated - just swap from #BTC to #Lightning or #Liquid, and transact from there. It takes me less than 2 minutes to do the swap. Fees on Lightning and Liquid are nearly zero, and you get good enough privacy.

If you think I'm wrong, try to find my on-chain address from the lightning zap I just sent you. Can you do it? If not, then you proved my point - Monero is ONLY useful for shady, illegal, darknet markets, aka hiding from 3-letter agencies, something that no #Bitcoiner is interested in.
