All languages are like this. foreach() in PHP can be an order of magnitude slower than a standard for loop. C/C++ do all kinds of wacky things. The problem is that there is no money in language design. Most languages are either built by unpaid volunteers or companies that just see it as a cost center.

You want to here something really depressing? It's almost always quicker and more cost effective to throw hardware at performance problems than spend valuable dev time fixing them.

This is why open source software can be significantly better than commercial software. It is generally built by people who don't mind spending the extra time to do things right. The down side is that it takes longer to do things right. Software is always about tradeoffs. The more you understand the systems you have to work with, the better you will be at making the right choices.

They have been building business tools. These will benefit Bitcoin by driving business adoption. They will also increase Microstrategy's cashflow, which will increase the amount of Bitcoin MS can buy and increase the Bitcoin price. This will benefit any foss devs who hold Bitcoin.

BTW, github repos are only useful as long as Microsoft (which owns github) allows them to be. Do you have a backup plan?

You should always upstream your changes. Unless you're a selfish prick. Or too lazy.

One of the nice things about open source is that you can just chang it. Instead of complaining.

Not only are cube farms bland and depressing, they are actively detrimental to productivity.

Since we're on the subject, I just want to point out how stupid 'open plan living' is. I don't wan't to hear what's going on in the kitchen or living room at all times. I don't want my dirty dishes or what I'm watching on TV visible from the front door. I don't want to be able to smell the garbage in the fucking dining room. There is a word for an entire family living in one room: poverty.

I'm excited about it because it means we're on our way to $10,000,000. I'm more excited that 1 btc = 1 btc, while 1 USD = 1 piece of paper.

That's not wierd. They are supporting Bitcoin, so bitcoiners are supporting them.

Hi to all Nostriches,

I am here because I was telling nostr:npub14yf4yasnqgpkzjrzhysshglf82e8nkp8r9sn5hzqu4n244k3avtshhwpyu that I’m ready to retire from my modeling career and was not sure what I want to do next. She opened my eyes to the idea that I should do something in the #Bitcoin space since my background is #math. I really like the idea of this, but I want to learn more before deciding what path I take carrier wise.

I have now started to read what Duchess says is the #BitcoinBible by nostr:npub1gdu7w6l6w65qhrdeaf6eyywepwe7v7ezqtugsrxy7hl7ypjsvxksd76nak . Have all of you read this book? I also have a few other books that she recommended for me to read when I am done with β€˜The Bitcoin Standard’.

How did you guys get into Bitcoin? And how many of you are working in a Bitcoin company?
