How about a #FOSS only marketplace sort of like #envato ones but selling professionally designed templates for #opensource software like #Shotcut, #Kdenlive, #Blender, #Natron, #Libreoffice, #Scribus, #Gimp, #Wordpress, etc...? Ready to pay for high quality templates considering the amounts we've paid in the past to Adobe and professionals using their products.
And/or an open university or academy that offers courses in IT, graphic design, #cybersecurity, etc using only #FOSS? Would definitely enroll my kids...
Is there any plan on having a verfied listing on #Flathub? Thanks.
Installed it once but didn't use. Since I'm working for a company and part of our operation is commercial in nature, my use of it can be illegal.
There are many #FOSS alternatives like #Joplin, #Logseq, #Appflowy, #SiYuan, #BeaverNotes, #TrilliumNotes, etc.
The one you can pay for privately.

Yes he's correct. Source available isn't a licence recognised either as free software by the FSF or as open source by the OSI.
As its license currently reads, Anytype cannot even be legally used by everyone much less forked and distributed.
Even Skiff's license was better in this regard...
Down with that proprietary crap. #Minetest despite its silly name is better in at least some ways
If they're normies and won't care about installing critical updates, make sure you use a #Linux distro that does this automatically for them. From our experience with managing around 20 school PCs, #Ubuntu or its flavours with their hated #snaps are perfect for this!
Otherwise, if you want #flatpaks, we've also tested #PopOS on several machines with automatic updates enabled for a year with no issues or intervention required.
Perhaps, #LinuxMint can do it too but someone else will need to share their experience. Hope this was helpful.
Not FOSS though

+ #Radicle https://radicle.xyz/
Radicle is an #opensource, #p2p code collaboration stack built on #Git. Unlike centralized code #hosting #platforms, there is no single entity controlling the network. Repositories are replicated across peers in a #decentralized manner, and users are in full control of their data and workflow.
You're welcome. I was under the impression that only the Canonical Snap backend is closed source but it's possible to use, manage and publish snaps without access to Canonical's Snapcraft.io or even access to the internet. Ubuntu Unity maintainer built his own snap store.
So it looks like the snap format, snapd, the core software, confinement tools like #Apparmor and even the snapcraft frontend are all open source. Criticising snap because of #Snapcraft looks like criticising flatpak due to some issue with #Flathub.
Btw, I personally love #flatpak and use it on all our home PCs : )
Snaps can have advantages over flatpaks like:
- support for CLI apps and system services
- built-in automatic updates
- prevents normal users from installing apps I think
Many of these will only make sense for large deployments if you have to manage hundreds of machines and when the users are not the owners...
Also, you and I might not care about government deployments but they're driving #Linux adoption especially in schools with a new generation of students growing up accustomed to #foss.
Did you change your YT channel name? The link in bio is not opening in #Grayjay.
Webapps like #Nextcloud Office or #Cryptpad should work fine.
Well #snaps have valid use cases and are great for large corporate or government deployments.
Why would you wish death on #Ubuntu when it's what most of the other popular non-snap distros are based on?
I don't like that their back end is closed source but then so is Signal's. At least for snaps, people are free to create their own snap server...
You're correct. Most of the time if its foss, it will be privacy respecting. If not, it will get forked sooner or later if it has value.
