Soviet communism and American capitalism both fail by its leaders being incapable of handling the complexity of the world, and their power eventually becoming so concentrated that they become insulated from information of things on the ground and from the consequences of their actions. Plenty of folks hate American capitalism too, i believe for the same reason Easter Europeans hate soviet communism - they both suffer from the same structural issues.
