Easy enough, as long as you follow hexagonal folder structure and you create boundaries by following domain driven design. It helps if you have common patterns for the different layers (like you see in onion architecture).

Those that don’t like it often fall in 2 camps: super juniors or old timers. Usually the juniors because they don’t know what pattern to use for the behavior being encapsulated. And, old timers are so use to large files/classes that they dislike it at first. But once i go through a few patterns and examples almost everyone adopts a large portion of it. Even if they don’t go full blown, they almost always cut down their class sizes (which helps with unit test) and use some of the patterns.

I think I annoy 50% of those that work with me, because I followed Single Responsibility Principle to it's logical conclusion and adopted functional classes (classes with only one public method [actually, mostly just one small method]).

Nostr has lost the battle for censorship resistance.

While WE all know that Nostr is superior because it’s a protocol, people do NOT care enough. They are more interested in what’s written ON the box, not what’s necessarily inside the box.

The people who did care about “free speech” are now placated enough with Rumble for Video, X for short form, Substack for long form. With Meta now throwing their weight behind the movement, it’s game over for this narrative - at least for the foreseeable future.

There is no way Nostr as a brand can claim that space in people’s minds, especially against multiple established brands.

That ‘censorship resistance’ and ‘free speeech’ ships have sailed (even though they were fake), and the people who cared enough boarded.

The normies who never cared, still don’t care, or they found their way to the anti-platforms, like Threads, BlueSky or Pornhub.

The small minority of us still here on Nostr…are well…still here. We’re building, which is great - that MUST happen before anything else.

But if the goal is to grow the network effect here and bring in more people, then we need to find a new angle. Something more compelling that is a “running towards” value, not a “running away from” value.

I’m not 100% sure what that is. My instinct is that a “network of incredible applications”, that don’t necessarliy or explicitly brand themselves as Nostr, but have it under the hood is the right direction, but it needs more experimentation. Also needs more really well-build apps for non-sovereignty minded people (especially content creators) and people who don’t necessarly care about the reasons Nostr was first built.

We’ve been working away at this Satlantis thing for almost a year now and it’s coming along - albeit WAY slower than I would’ve liked. We’ve made a whole bunch of mistakes and at times I feel like a LARP considering the state of non-delivery.

BUT…we made some big changes in the last 2mths since missing a couple key deadlines, and I’m pretty confident we’ll have something cool to show in a month or two.

Let’s see if this approach starts to bring new interest andn activity here. Or if I’m full of shit. Either way, I’m going to keep looking for a better ngle than “free speech” because I no longer think that’s a battle we can win (we can come back and fight that battle when the time is more right, and when the winds have shifted in our favor once more).

So the hypothesis is, freedom has been won and it won’t be challenged again? Or, are you saying nostr’s time isn’t here yet?

All of Zuck’s responses, early on, felt like they were from a script. It felt like, he would wait for rogan to stop talking and then go back to his script. It did not feel genuine.

Makes sense, I suppose the responder replaced “sun bathing” with “sun exposure.”

Perhaps the most succinct way would be to say, “those that sun bath but are fearful of EMFs don’t realize the irony.”

Yeah, i think the responder was alluding to the fact that sunblock has carcinogenics, which gives people cancer when the sunscreen has a chemical reaction to the sun. If this was not a concern, wouldn’t most sun bathers just use sunscreen?

Profits the name of the game. Incentives pushed them into it, and now incentives push them out. But was rather disingenuous to feign moral motive when it was all for profit. Least they’re being more honest as they leave that UN agreement.

Usually when I see this I assume the message is, more govt regulations. Not more solutions, like nostr.

Black panther director tried to pull $12,000 out of the bank and the bank called the cops. Someone should tell him, he can move $100,000+ in bitcoin in 10 mins and no police are involved.

At first it felt like a joke, but with Trudeau surprisingly stepping down, could Trump really buy another country? Putin is probably thinking, “dang, I could have done that with Ukraine?”

Can nostr fix this? Could someone host their own relay and use encryption/decryption for those on that relay?

Yeah, it’s unfortunate. You can’t opt out. I bought a new macbook pro, right before the announcement. After the announcement, I got so disheartened I made the macbook pro my bitcoin node. Then i went with a linux distro for my coding device. It’s taken me quite a while to get the linux laptop to look and feel like my old macbook.

Satellite internet ftw

Nice, another feature i must pay for, but i’ll bypass and not use - like the wifi on my tv.
