Ever wonder why #bitcoin people are often weird people? Not judging you, I have a mirror and I know who I am. Threshold thinking is why. Bitcoin adoption is still low. That means everyone who is into bitcoin has at least some low threshold tendencies.

This has pros and cons. You can't be the best or the first unless you are different. The con is that nobody ever got fired for buying IBM.

A low threshold person who gets a win, say buying bitcoin early, had that behavior reinforced. They will lower their threshold and get weirder. Maybe the next thing is another win, maybe they just became a full blown nutcase.

I think about this a lot. By knowing the idea, I can step into the middle of my thinking process and consciously ask myself if now is a time to be weird or a time to follow the norm. I am no longer just a passenger in my brain.
