Did you hear that Node.js broke? Version 22.5.0 included an innocent looking performance win that broke Node for most users. Digging into the what, how and why here was super fun, really proud of this video (linked below)

I’ve had the twitch app update for almost a year now. It’s not good. It’s aggressively not good.

I tried sending feedback through my existing channels and was able to get some bugs fixed, but it still sucks to use.

How should you choose a career as a young person in 2024?

Focus on industries that already have established unions.

- Government

- Medical

- Industrial

All of these have tech-focused roles that are also covered under unionization.

You can spend 5 years working on a product…

Only to watch someone make more money from selling a random domain name.

No organization that’s afraid to experiment with alternative ways of working is Agile. Sorry.

The hostility I see to mob/ensemble programming from people who have never tried it is a little mind-boggling. It’s very frustrating to me when people actively fight against something that is trivially easy to try. Where is the agility in that?

If your way of working involves any sort of ceremony, I suggest finding some other way to work. Software development is not a religion. We don’t need ceremonies. We need to get work done.

For those who say that they must work in isolation in order to be productive: I hate to break it to you, but your personal productivity doesn’t matter much in the greater scheme of things. What matters is the productivity of the team as a whole, and the overall productivity of the system within which the team works. A single individual won’t influence that much.
