When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” (1 Corinthians 15:54)

Frodo asked Goldberry “Then all this strange land belongs to him?”

she said, “The trees and the grasses and all things growing or living in the land belong each to themselves. Tom Bombadil is the Master. . . No one has ever caught old Tom walking in the forest, wading in the water, leaping on the hill-tops under light and shadow. He has no fear.”

Tom is free.

Tom fears nothing.

The ring has no hold over him.

We should all aim to live this way.

John 7:37 (ESV): On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. “

1 Corinthians 15:24–26:

“Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.”

When Jesus comes back: death dies

reading the bible is critical for life:

"If you do not wield a true Jerusalem blade you are in grave peril; your weapon will break off at the hilt, and where will you be?" (Spurgeon)

John 7:46 (ESV): The officers answered, “No one ever spoke like this man!”

Still true

A STORY is told about the famous 19th century evangelist D.L. Moody:

He was once approached by a woman who needed counseling. Two men, she claimed, were following her. Whenever she stepped onto the city trolley, they stepped onto it behind her. When she stepped off, they stepped off. With a nervous twitch in her neck, she insisted that she had even been followed to his office by these very two men.

Moody could easily detect that this precious woman was suffering from a mental delusion. There was no one following her.

But to put her at ease, he told her: “Those two men following you are David’s men. Their names are Goodness and Mercy.”

(He opened to psalm 23:6 to prove it)

She was relieved and exclaimed: “That is wonderful. I have always wondered what their names are.”

“God is not hesitant or indecisive or tentative in his desires to do good to his people. His anger must be released by a stiff safety lock, but his mercy has a hair trigger.” (John Piper)
