message me to discuss when you finish.

“And as long as we live after the fashion of this world, as long, in other words, as we make our life an end in itself, no meaning and no goal can stand, for they are dissolved in death. It is only when we give up freely, totally, unconditionally, the self-sufficiency of our life, when we put all its meaning in Christ, that the “newness of life”—which means a new possession of the world—is given to us.” Alexander Schmemann

This is true, whether you want it to be or not .

GK Chesterton on how he came to faith in Christianity:

“If there is an element of farce in what follows, the farce is at my own expense; for this book explains how I fancied I was the first to set foot in Brighton [i.e. Christianity] and then found I was the last. It recounts my elephantine adventures in pursuit of the obvious. No one can think my case more ludicrous than I think it myself; no reader can accuse me here of trying to make a fool of him: I am the fool of this story, and no rebel shall hurl me from my throne.”

Christ is the end of all searching. Christ is the whole point of everything. In HIM all things hang together. Chesterton realized this…and thought he was the first!

Gotta love that last phrase though: “.. I am the fool of this story, and no rebel shall hurl me from my throne.” Brilliant

Have you ever marveled at the fact that rhinoceros's exist?

"I never in my life said anything merely because I thought it funny; though of course, I have had ordinary human vainglory, and may have thought it funny because I had said it. It is one thing to describe an interview with a gorgon or a griffin, a creature who does not exist. It is another thing to discover that the rhinoceros does exist and then take pleasure in the fact that he looks as if he didn’t." chesterton

Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians 4:6)

“Sacrifice is the most natural act of man, the very essence of his life. Man is a sacrificial being, because he finds his life in love, and love is sacrificial: it puts the value, the very meaning of life in the other and gives life to the other, and in this giving, in this sacrifice, finds the meaning and joy of life.” —Alexander Schmemann

president bukele: 'the first thing we need to do is pray and seek God's wisdom.'

"But when you are prosecuting your chief political rival on the basis of arcane oppo research stuff, you are not cleaning up elections but rather are guaranteeing that they will become increasingly dirty."

of the 150 psalms, 'lamenting' is the theme of 59 of them; 'praise' = 41. interesting. God knows that life is filled with suffering & grief.

“ It will not always be the blaze of noon even in my soul concerns, I must expect at seasons to mourn the absence of my former joys, and seek my Beloved in the night. Nor am I alone in this, for all the Lord’s beloved ones have had to sing the mingled song of judgment and of mercy, of trial and deliverance, of mourning and of delight.”

Spurgeon
