What is there about alcohol or marijuana (two very different substances, each producing different effects when ingested), that improves a person, whether it be their creativity, their stamina, their attentiveness?
For most, these are a choice, although alcohol can also become an addiction.
If one already has issues within themselves, like low self-esteem, various anxieties, etc, I can see how substances may help them feel more at ease with themselves.
I also can see where marijuana can be used for pain relief, and some other medicinal reasons. There are also CBD treatments that may be as effective.
No, I'm not arguing there is no reason for becoming intoxicated - but is there, really?
I'd say I'm personally pretty conflicted on this.
Ok, looked into SimpleX. Not sure what my use case for it is, but I haven't used a pure chat app since ICQ. Maybe I should try it again, I don't know. Pretty sure being in committed relationships for most of that time has something to do with it.
So maybe that is the question; what business does a married man have using a chat app? This isn't for work, I'm not a spook. Just a normal bloke.

I still use likes and other reactions, depemding on the functionality of the client.
But I also use 8-sat zaps. Why? 8 is a lucky number in some cultures, especially regarding money. 8 has some significance in the CS world as well, as 2 cubed.
I also sometimes use 22 and 68. My son's favorite number, and one of my favorite numbers. Not entirely accidental these are one off from popular meme numbers. My birthday is 419 if I need a higher number, I guess. But nobody needs to be zapped that much of my children's inheritance.
For the most part, likes & replies. For polls, 1 sat. For zapathon and when I'm feeling cute, 8. For when I really spent some time or got some value out of a note, 22 or 68.

Actually kind of the opposite of judging; I think this made me a more open and accepting human being - one might say a better person!
