I don't disagree that the path you describe is preferable. But history indicates the gradually then suddenly path is more likely.

I don't disagree with most of your points, but what country is better? A favorite author of mine wrote "we are the least sick patient in the cancer ward." At least we still have arms here albeit neutered a bit. I live as free as I can and try to do what I can to promote freedom.

I think its because it shouldn't exist. It was not a kind 1 note. It was a badge post/issuance that an errant client allowed replies too. That is why most clients cannot see the original note.
