You would only brick it, if you hid the seed somewhere upfront. Wouldn't you?
Maybe the PIN for a dummy wallet is a better idea. But it depends whether that's plausible if you got a KYC history.
True, and so can be Coldcard PINs. But I get your point and a 5$ attack is a serious thread.
At this point in time, you're just pushing more customers towards custodial LN wallets. Sad fact.
I wonder about the reactions at the border. π I rather have my coldcard only...or even just the seed in my head.
Maybe it's too complicated. Occam's razor implies we should check out simpler solutions first...before modifying layer 1.
#fedimint looks like a compelling scaling-solution, too. I will dive further into it, because I think it has the right decentralized DNA
The amount of people using custodial lightning wallets is terrifying. People here on nostr are so obsessed with their zapping events, but for most participants there's hardly any difference to using paypal, venmo, instant sepa, etc.
Bitcoin became a pop-culture.
Awesome quote, I'll put it to my alltime favorites. Thanks.
When fees are low, it's time for UTXO consolidation. π€

UTXO consolidation is really, really bad for privacy! It only indicates you lack a concept for coin control π. I highly recommend sparrow wallet for tagging/labelling UTXOs.
Today in a city festival while walking around I saw a small wagon selling ice cream with a "Bitcoin accepted here" sticker. Being the bitcoiner that I am I approached immediately even though I didn't want any ice.
I told her I would only buy if I could pay with sats (1β¬ for a small popsicle). I don't why but I was super excited until she said "I have no idea how to use the lightning network device, only my husband knows but I don't know where he is".
I said "it's okay, I can wait". 5 min later comes the man, creates the 2 euro invoice (one for me one for the wife), shows it to me and I pay with my nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 wallet.
The best part? A friend I was with got completely interested when he saw the whole thing and I think I was able to orange pill him afterwards, so #winwinwin for everyone.
Sorry for the long post but it's the first time I'm able to pay something with #bitcoin and I have to say it was an incredible moment π.
I just came across the first 'BTC accepted here' sign in my home town today. It's happening and we're very early π
Quiet quitting became the social standard. If you read this, there's still a spark inside you. Don't let it die!
Kleptocracy is to blame. It's not only us (unwillingly) having to support dozens of people we'll never meet in real life, it's the government who shamelessly steals from us. We need to become ungovernable.
Let's not forget the contacts you share when using the mobile app. The social graph is a valuable asset and allows for fine tuned profiling.
This could be just a NIP away. Nostr is open to that addition.
Is anybody else facing drops in the hashrate roughly every 20 seconds?
I just removed Twitter from my mobile phone. Too much unproductive toxicity, too much noise with no signal.
