So I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of nostr:npub1a2cww4kn9wqte4ry70vyfwqyqvpswksna27rtxd8vty6c74era8sdcw83a new book in preparation for a podcast we’ll be recording, and all I can say is get ready people! My god get ready...
If you can’t understand the value prop of Bitcoin after reading this book, you’ll never get it. The best part, she doesn’t even discuss bitcoin until chapter 20. 🤣
Mark my words, it’ll be a landmark classic that generations will reference. It's insanely thorough but also very accessible considering the complexity of the material that’s covered.
I think she plans to have it punished very soon (within a month or two), so watch-out for it! It’s the ultimate orange pilling device for people that are intellectually curious.
Cannot wait. Thanks for sharing.
GM! Once you understand Bitcoin, there is no turning back.
GM, in his book Principles of Economics, Saifedean Ammous explains what lawyers have known instinctively for a long time: everyone sells time ;-)
Over 15 people attended out first #NostrMeetup in Warsaw, Poland! 🇵🇱

I know the feeling 😀. I am now going to zap you with my custodial nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm walet to cheer you up. See you tomorrow?
Sure, I agree. But you know what I meant. There are times when we need to lower the barrier to entry so that people can learn and make the right choices along the way.
For example, nostr:npub14wxtsrj7g2jugh70pfkzjln43vgn4p7655pgky9j9w9d75u465pqvagcye adviced bar baazar to install bluewallet lightning custodial.
I image when he realized that people using the custodial LN were advised to move their funds out because they'll close it and it was past the deadline the feeling that you advised someone and now they might loose money because of you is something I don't ever want to feel.
Luckyly everything turned out ok, it was not a rug pull and they payed the funds even past deadline.
But I prefer to avoid the worst possible outcome.
Self custodial education is better then just going for easy but risky solutions just for increasing adoption.
If someone is not willing to accept that education, it just means they're still not ready/needing bitcoin.
I still believe that you can not orange pill anybody, they must decide to do it themselves. You can help educate them of course and that is very precious value.
Convincing some merchant to install custodial wallet just so that you can pay them in sats does not mean you oranged pill them IMO.
I agree with you except that I do not think we should forego the "not ready/needing bitcoin" crowd. In fact, they should be our primary target. Onboarding them to self-custodial solutions should be our goal, but if someone is not yet ready to pay for opening their first channel, we should offer them a zero-cost solution to get started. We can then encourage them to learn more about Bitcoin.
Many hardcore Bitcoiners started their journey on exchange wallets. Some went through a "shitcoin phase" or a "trading phase." That's all fine because most learned along the way.
I am all for self custody. But I would not underestimate the power of making things easy for beginners. Bitcoin is a long trip and one often needs to make one step at a time.
It’s no fun for me to say that #zapplepay makes #Apple look like morons.
First ever Nostr meetup in Poland this Friday in Warsaw with nostr:npub1ezw0xm0w52rd4yfdg9zlw9qvwdy46alzelklkefptrd203m37tuq4djmeg as our guest!!! It’s only the beginning. See you all on Sunday.
Thanks to nostr:npub1m0sxqk5uwvtjhtt4yw3j0v3k6402fd35aq8832gp8kmer78atvkq9vgcru and nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm, I converted my business email address gpietras@djp.pl into an LN address. Had to get a little help from my IT department, but surprisingly, it was rather easy. Look forward to a world where all email addresses are LN addresses by default.
It will come as no surprise to readers of the ‘Bitcoin Standard’ and the ‘FIAT Standard’ that nostr:npub1gdu7w6l6w65qhrdeaf6eyywepwe7v7ezqtugsrxy7hl7ypjsvxksd76nak 's ’Principles of Economics’ is truly an excellent read. The book is a concise, clear, and engaging representation of the Austrian economic thought. #bookstr
Testing nostr:npub1plstrz6dhu8q4fq0e4rjpxe2fxe5x87y2w6xpm70gh9qh5tt66kqkgkx8j on iOS. It has been working flawlessly so far. Great UI. Zaps still working. (Don’t tell Apple!) I am pretty impressed. Good luck.
I feel like ditching #Apple for the first time ever.
"Now if we turn to the empirical record, we confront the stark fact that, in no period of human history, has paper money spontaneously emerged on the free market.“

Before the White Paper, Jörg Guido Hülsmann explained why #Bitcoin — if invented — would work wonders.
"In the High Middle Ages, when large-scale commerce and the interregional division of labor started to flourish, the great merchants of northern Italy found that no government produced money that was suitable for their new needs. The traditional coin system contained only silver coins, virtually all of which were hopelessly debased and, what is more, were debased to different degrees. The merchants then set out to produce their own money, new and sound gold coins, which at first they used only within their own circles. And because the other governments tolerated this practice—because for once they did not stand in the way—by the thirteenth century the fiorino d’oro from Florence became a generally accepted medium of exchange in central and eastern Europe.
A little liberty of this sort could work wonders in our age, which from a technological point of view is so much better endowed than the medieval merchants were.“
Jörg Guido Hülsmann, The Ethics of Money Production
