#Bitcoin 25+ year dev NostrGram (Nostr client): https://nostrgram.co/ YouTube: https://youtube.com/@regardingbitcoin Substack: https://jonathanleger.substack.com

I had to blacklist wellorder from NostrGram. It's being inundated with spam. Doesn't seem to have even basic spam prevention in place.

If your follow count was severely incorrect in NostrGram (namely "5 followers" instead of thousands 🤯) it was due to a strange issue with the db server that took me a while to figure out. Well, I didn't actually figure it out I just started rebuilding the follow counts in a different way and it works now. 🤷 At any rate, your follow counts should be correct now.

Ugh, it went back to 5 again. I see where that's happening. It's in the hourly stats rebuild. I'll find it and fix it, but you're not actually missing anything. It's just the number.

Figured it out. You're back to being famous and adored by many lol

Your followers are all there (if you click Followers you'll see the first 500 -- that's the limit or the page would be massive). Just the wrong number.

Yeah your follow count is wrong in the table. I'm looking to see why.

I can see that the day will eventually arrive when NostrGram only reads from paid relays or relays that have solid spam prevention in place. The number of duplicate spam posts in Global when not filtered is insane. The majority of notes coming into the NostrGram database every day is from spammers. That's not tenable long-term. For now it's manageable because Nostr is small, but that won't last forever.

Mobile's too small of a screen to show multiple columns in. You can hold your phone in landscape orientation to see 2 columns at a time on most phones though.

My issue with ad-driven relays is that they invariably result in algos that drive people to the most contentious content in an effort to increase engagement and grow revenue. That's how Facebook and Twitter became the hellscapes they are now. So while I'm not against advertising in principle, with social networks it's never worked well.

You're on a white background? I disabled Light mode weeks ago. I guess you're grandfathered in lol

Paid relays are free to read, pay to write, so you can still add them to your "read" list in the client and see what's being written to them. You just can't write to them yourself without paying.

Thanks for posting this. It gave me a great idea for how to allow users to filter which relays NostrGram displays in their feed(s).

Nostrgram blurs images from people you don't follow by default. I'm pushing an update tonight that fixes it not blurring images from url previews. Some of the telegram "invites" have porn images in their previews. Those will be blurred also after this update.

420 is the total. You'll see on the list page it says that it's showing those with at least 5 users.
