I have plans to add a "More feeds" option that will let you choose from some additional feeds (including Popular). So it's coming back at some point.

Not if you're only reading from paid relays. That's what NostrGram.co does. I also added a Friends+ feed which shows the people you follow plus the people they follow. So lots of great exposure without the spam.
The spam was in the database, it's just filtered out by the way NostrGram handles the feeds. Now a lot of it won't even be in the database, which would eventually slow things down.
Deleting millions of spam records from the NostrGram database. Just blocking the top 65 spam links has cut the number of new notes going into the database by about 60%. It's insane how much spam bots are posting the same urls over and over again.
No it doesn't search for kind 3 records. I have an idea for how to help people with this issue, though. Give me a few hours and I'll see if it works.
If you're using NostrGram that's due to a bug that I just fixed and will push an update for shortly.
However, some of the replies are coming from clients that make a jumbled mess out of the tags and make it impossible to identify which note is the OP of a thread so there are still some issue that I can't fix.

Another fun Nostr fact: The 65 most spammed urls in Nostr constitute about half of the events in the entire database. That's half of *all* events, not just Kind 1 (note) events. Damn.
They'll be gone once I run the spam cleanup routine.

I believe I've fixed the issue that was causing a few people to not be able to login to NostrGram. If you're one of those people give it a try now and see if it works.
