Feeling down and lacking motivation. Anyone got any suggestions?
Why does Damus use so much disk space?
This is actually another potentially subtle but huge problem with the protocol that is not what people think the standard issue is.
When you get to around 1400 follows you will start to hit relay note size limits for your contact list. This means only a few relays with larger contact size limits will accept your new follows.
This may lead to the perception that follows are dropped, but what is probably happening is that most relays are not getting your new contact list after a follow.
I am updating damus to use a local relay list in nostrdb so this alleviate the issue, but its still a big issue since your contact list will stop syncing eventually.
nostr:npub1jlrs53pkdfjnts29kveljul2sm0actt6n8dxrrzqcersttvcuv3qdjynqn has a completely new way to do follows with individual events, but it would be a huge hardfork on the protocol.
Ok stupid question from a non-nostr dev, why didn’t the protocol have individual events for your contact list? That seems really obvious when you’re designing stuff like this

Working on something that I spoke on at Advancing Bitcoin.
Use a proper software wallet developed by open source devs. If you want the most reliable, use bitcoin core. There are other good mobile onchain wallets, but if you want to spend any I’d recommend phoenix which also lets you use LN. Remember, all LN Bitcoin is still onchain Bitcoin
Ubuntu or fedora are good options
Some people on the internet seem like they want to verge on not acting like a human being
I highly recommend IVPN
Either is probably good. Phoenix uses a modified version of eclair afaik and Zeus uses LND. Phoenix has splicing support which is cool, spend a little less on fees when adding inbound. I prefer phoenix’s native UI and it feels faster. Phoenix supports background payments so you can close the app while someone pays your LN invoice
But really I think either is good. I can’t vouch for how Relai is doing their LN but it’ll probably either be custodial and not cool or perhaps with ondevice LDK and therefore infinitely more cool.
I like phoenix, it’s self custodial and has a rlly good UX
Is anyone else heading out to Advancing Bitcoin?
It’s hard to see the diamond if you’re the grindstone. nostr:note16u3lyvl8c6z8ufggc3u0gser6u22yax5vvwpcwaqtcg8kmrx3k8srureda
