Good luck. I entirely gave up with LN and zapping after trying to make this work. Repeated tries failed.
Alby wanted to "schedule a call" for tech support like some shitcoin company and wouldn't just explain it in public NOSTR discussion. Despite my request to do so - so others could reference it.
Their webpage to set this up is a 404 ( well it was at the time - I don't care to check now).
LN and zapping only *really* work custodially unless you are cool with paying a huge friction & time vigilance tax.
Expensive novelties are not my bag.
Don't ignore the canvas, either. Great tool if visualization is important to your ability to gel things (I have a hard time feeling I am in control of my comprehension unless I can "see" the ideas).
KYC'd sats? Easy, many methods.
Non-KYC? Less easy but more worth it.
Examine your motivations. Do you want to be rich or do you want to be free?
I mean, I agree. I just wish the caveats were being put up in front of the benefits which currently exist.
Custodians can only evade money transmitter regulations so long. That's the main concern in my opinion.
I have given up on sovereign LN. So many frustrations and failures in my many concerted attempts. Years of efforts. Hours upon hours of my scant free time did not end well spent.
Tired of the cheerleading in the context of reality-based feasibility of LN as a solution.
2019/2020: "you can run a sovereign LN node with a raspi!"
You can see how ridiculous and misleading that was now. But some could have resolved to messagemore appropriately from the outset.
I see a parallel phenomenon happening here on NOSTR with zaps.
There must be a chart which shows what percentage of this occurs non-custodially though. I think recognizing that is important because mostly the whole phenomenon is reliant on third parties.
It's quite concerning.
#LN #lightning #zaps
Zaps are custodial wallet KYC'd sats and only marginally better than paypal or Venmo.

Have just concluded my third attempt in 3 years to run pleb LN. You haven't even mentioned the software problems which lead to channel closure (whoops, the app is just gone! It was there yesterday!)
The message arrived 3 years too late.
At least nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx is pushing back in this episode against whether plebs "SHOULD" pursue certain technical paths. Over the years I have noticed those with developer type brains generally fail to place themselves into the shoes of people without their capabilities, and they obscure and gloss over super important details which would under-sell their perspectives.
Running LN is such an example. Had I heard this episode in 2020 I would have avoided it entirely... as well as running a node on a RasPi (again, you CAN but probably SHOULDN'T).

Thank you, Satoshi.
It's almost as if they don't WANT to succeed.

Cormac McCarthy sure could paint a detailed picture with words alone.
The best zero you can have.
Sometimes I summarize ideas from books I read. Came across this one just now in my Obsidian files.

Anil's awesome book is free now. I have a hard copy.
As indicated on RHR... ATH in purchasing power is not reached until around 78k USD.
Think about that.
Analogies are good. I am in favor of them.
