Right it's the idea that Bitcoiners have stepped out of the mainstream. But why the ugly? I would expect better of people who have abandoned following the crowed and believing the media, etc.

Why is there such a high percentage of people in the Bitcoin world that get pulled into ugly ideologies?

Quite often lately I run across the Twitter profiles of people that I hung out with 5, 6, 7, 8 years ago and I’m disturbed to see that they are now red pilled misogynists, or white nationalists, or tyrant supporters, or nazi sympathizers, etc, etc. It’s really quite a bummer!

There is a wave of this in American culture at large at the moment, but it seems to be hitting the Bitcoin community much harder than the general population… why?

Biology is very real, but gender roles and norms are a tool of control. Do whatever the fuck you like. Be free 🕊️

Being a protector is great. The problem is when you confuse protecting with controlling. Protecting another means protecting their autonomy.

Everyone is fucked up. Everyone will disappoint you... just make sure it's a good story 😜

Being capable and decisive.

Being willing to take on responsibility and help others.

Things that it is not healthy to find attractive in others…

Being controlling.

Disrespecting the autonomy of others.

Basing your self concept on being above others or being able to control others.

I had a very interesting conversation with my teenage daughter about romance novels.

There are some “romance novels” out there called dark romances that are glamorizations of sexual assault and emotional abuse.

Now here is the tricky part, the red pill crew will look at that and take it as evidence that women want to be controlled by men. But the truth is that this stuff is the symptom of being abused.

Imagine a girl that was raised by a red pilled dude that measured himself, his “masculinity” in terms of how well he controlled women. That father will be very emotionally abusive (hopefully not also sexually abusive) to his daughter, and the consequence of that is that abuse and love become wired together in her head. When she is older she will be attracted to abusive men as that is what feels like love to her. It will take a lot of work for her to heal and break free of that to have healthy relationships.

It’s a vicious cycle where abuse leads to more abuse.

Us, as healthy or healed adults, need to call this out for what it is. It’s our job to stop this cycle of abuse.

When you are young you are trying to prove yourself. You go around thinking “what does the world expect of me?”

When you are old you know yourself, you’ve got nothing to prove. You go around thinking “what do I expect of the world?”

Being young sucks. Zero stars, would not recommend.

The way we raise kids now, with one woman alone in a house with toddlers and babies all day, is not at all healthy. It's isolating, it causes depression, etc. Adults need other adults, and intellectual stimulation.

We need to change our ideas about child raising.

The low birth rate trend is a lot easier to understand when know that women are just people.

Women are people with with ambitions, dreams, fears, hopes, etc, etc. People who want to live full lives and not be relegated to just one function in life.

If you want women to have more babies, make sure they can do so without giving up all their other dreams.

Fathers who take on 50% of the parenting work.

Businesses that welcome kids and families.

Employers who offer flexible hours.

Events with childcare services, etc, etc.

A cultural shift is needed.

I see people and whole countries freaking out about low birth rates and trying to come up with ways to get women to have more babies… Why don’t you just make it not a shitty deal for women?

Instead of trying to shame women into giving up all that they are to produce children, why don’t we make the world friendlier to parents and families? A why not get fathers more involved? This way women can have children and still participate in the world! That might actually work.

But if you just keep asking women to give up all of their humanity besides this one part of it, if you ask them to give up all of their ambitions in life for children… they are going to keep opting out.

If you’ve done much business then you’ve likely had the misfortune of running across those scammy “business people” who will rip you off juuuuust enough that it’s not worth it to go after them. These people know what they are doing and do it rather intentionally.

But, there should be a term for this behavior. Help me come up with one!

For all of human history women have been very involved in economically productive work. This 1950's ideal is a complete anomaly in human history.
