thoughts, experiences, perspectives.

...What of all the supposed "massive" price increases in other consumer goods, like groceries, that have been attributed to the carbon price by some folks over the years? They claimed the added cost of transporting the goods increased the prices so much that it hurt Canadians. Can we expect a price decrease on all those items as well?

Somehow I doubt it. So either someone will be skimming extra profit off the top, or those folks were falsely attributing the price increases. 🤔

So, consumer carbon price in Canada is dropping to $0 in the next 24 hours (April 1st).

Its fair and easy to expect fuel prices at the pump to drop the applicable $/L.

*But*... 🧵

I was expecting Trump to pull out the "Four Square" method at the White House Tesla event today. He has a lot to learn about being a tricky car salesman. https://cdn.nostrcheck.me/5bac021adcd4a777240ad1a8ae68f41554fb14fb25b7ec58f3c934b5b674724d/8d67859ca1adf8d163eacc1bde7d2e8645dada6cdc7ef91d7f5848480cb7c007.webp

Alright we can all agree that we need a Doechii x Fred Again collab now

so.... they're just gonna let this all happen down there eh?

this is on fast track to becoming a "we" problem.

ah yes, nothing will fix global health, instability, poverty and high migration/refugee rates quite like gutting or eliminating any aid that is meant to improve material conditions in underdeveloped regions...

saw a valid comment somewhere today and I wish I could remember where and who said it so I could credit them, but:

"OpenAI is looking like the WeWork of the AI industry"

I just watched a generative AI owl tell me in its weird AI voice what it thinks a snowboarder's run score should've been at the X Games...

Pull the plug and wrap it up, we're done with AI.

Yea that seems to be a hurdle for most crypto/blockchain social or communication platforms. If the conversation is only ever about blockchain or related cryptocurrencies, then it will be harder to get more widespread adoption as the target demo never expands beyond those already versed in these topics.

Diversity of topics should be a goal.

ok now I'm actually starting to get a little nervous for the health of society and democracy.

like... this is actually real and happening, and everyone is just accepting it.

This is disappointing. Like in all sports betting, it only takes away from the enjoyment of the actual sport, and creates more negative emotion and consequences in the experience (especially for those who partake in betting). Shame.

maybe 2025 is the year when people start complaining *less* instead of more

Was it not under Trump's last administration that the whole "ban Tiktok" thing started? I seem to remember him supporting it. Now as soon as he gets views on the platform he wants to keep it? Clearly a bit attention-hungry...

I figured when the US government released their numbers earlier this year that they were probably low. These new numbers are also probably low. A truly tragic & disgraceful history... https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/interactive/2024/native-american-deaths-burial-sites-boarding-schools/

An excellent video from the good folks at Climate Town on consumerism and the waste and inefficiency created by a broken, unsustainable returns system.

There are a non-zero amount of politicians in certain North American governments right now taking notes on the situation in South Korea:

"Blame the Communists, declare martial law... profit?"

I suppose we shouldn't be surprised anymore when Taylor Sheridan makes a show and it ends up having writing that panders to the base, even if it means leaning into common pieces of misinformation in the hopes of getting some viral clips 🙄

Surely viewers know how to sort fact from fiction, right? https://nostrcheck.me/media/5bac021adcd4a777240ad1a8ae68f41554fb14fb25b7ec58f3c934b5b674724d/834e281054d8a455c5370a60317653ab33d6b1a63a409db2e7c3e461f5159e92.webp
