I get to finish building a camper today

Tomorrow will be my last day in my apartment and I'll be officially living on the road.

We've got power. Just needs to be wired up.

I got the fridge fitted into it's spot.

This bus has now experienced 76 4th of Julys. The goal is to get a node and bitaxe in it.

I still have yet to get power in my bus :(

I know it’s popular to be all-in on moral panic these days, but I think Bitcoin is in a good technical place right now. I’m bullish.

I think Core devs are doing good work. And I’m glad that people can run Knots or otherwise fork if they don’t like Core. That’s part of what makes Bitcoin robust, and gives useful market/adoption signals.

Mining pool centralization isn’t great, but there are plenty of optional tools to use more if it interferes more with the network, and economic signals (eg the possibility of high fees for censored transactions) exist for precisely that context, to help it get unstuck if it gets stuck.

I think current functionality is great, but I also think CTV+CSFS is a sensible upgrade on top of that if folks end up coalescing around it.

Sometimes the sun is out. ☀️

I totally and whole heartedly disagree with the "if you dont like core then fork off" mentality. That is not what makes bitcoin decentralized. What makes bitcoin decentralized is not having to agree with Core, not having to run their software while still remaining on chain.

If you create an ecosystem where if anyone disagrees with Core, they have to fork off, you've created an ecosystem where the Core team is the central authority of Bitcoin. Core is not Bitcoin, we are Bitcoin.

Regardless of whether you are in favor of the recent merge, the fact that they went against their ethos of never merging controversial PRs, this should concern you. Its only a matter of time until they decide to push something you dont like, and I dont think you should be told to fork off for disagreeing. You and I both know very well that even if a fork were to be objectibely better, it would not succeed because of Bitcoins network effect so its a nonargument.

Bitcoin is not decentralized if Cores word is final and all who disagree must fork off. That is absolutely no different from Vitalik saying ETH is not proof of stake, and all the plebs running the old version or mining eth are now on a different chain, deciding for everyone that PoS is the nee and official ethereum. It is no different if we create an ecosystem where Cores word is law and all those opposed must fork off.

I should clarify this has little to do with the content of the merge itself, but more so the act itself of pushing it, along with their totally unconcerned attitude coming off as though they really don't care whether or not Bitcoin succeeds because they got their check and thats all that matters has given me a bad taste, so its nice knowing that their are alternatives to Core while remaining on chain.

I dont even care if its the exact current code copy pasted, so long as its not managed by the current Core team.

TEXAS just passed a law that turns Big Tech giants Apple and Google into bouncers at the gates of the internet.

Under SB 2420, starting 2026, app stores must verify the age of every user. Want to download a weather app? You’ll need to show ID. And if you’re under 18, you can’t install anything without a parent’s permission.

This isn’t about “protecting children.” Porn apps are already banned in the app stores. This is about creating a mass surveillance system that erases anonymity, chills speech, and forces Texans to hand over their real identities to access digital life.

The state tells developers to “delete the data.” But delete when? And trust who? Developers? Apple? Google? You’re betting your privacy on a handshake.

Meanwhile, Apple and Google are forced to collect and store troves of sensitive info from every user, just to comply.

For Texans, from next year, everything you say on a social media app can be tied to your real-world identity.

And if you think this ends in Texas, think again. Utah passed a similar law. Congress is eyeing one, too. The war on online anonymity is here.

Good thing APKs exist, this is a total infringement on privacy. I thought Texas valued freedom but at this point even California grants you more freedoms than them.

Moving into the bus has been such a slow process, I thought I'd have a lot more money for amentaties after buying the bus but I hit so many road blocks on the journey back home, it ended up taking so long I had eaten through the whole build budget. Now I have to store my bus at an outdoor storage facility out of town and have to wait til I can save up enough for the solar generator kit I need before I can move in. I wanted to be in before June but it looks like thats not going to happen now.

How many Bitcoiners are there in the world that live full time in a bus?

I dont mean Bitcoin enthusiasts i mean 100% in Bitcoin, USD is for nothing but bills.

I think JPEGs on the timechain are stupid.

But the idea that they're going to hurt Bitcoin seems so weak to me. Like the US dollar can withstand people scribbling on it but Bitcoin can't?

In fact, the idea of Bitcoin as a glorious digital monument with some graffiti scribbled on it represents humanity pretty well. That's kind of us in a nutshell. Seems on-brand. Perfectionists trying to keep their little gardens tidy while trolls come in and find ways to mess with them anyway.

NFTs and memecoins already had their peak fad moments. People now know that they're non-scarce gambling toys rather than investments. It's just echoes of that peak now. The only thing that concerned me about the ordinals/runes period was the rapid UTXO bloat, not the blockspace usage, since the latter already has a consensus limit on it.

And if Bitcoin transactions can't outprice JPEGs in the long run, then it's just not that valuable. Bitcoin currently does about 1% of the gross settlement volume of Fedwire. That's peanuts. Imagine if it reaches a point where it does even like 10% of Fedwire. What would you pay to move a full bitcoin globally, permissionlessly, in 10 minutes, in a world where it's no longer a niche thing?

More stuff on block chain means more data means more storage required for nodes means only very rich people with access to large data pools like AWS are capable of running nodes.

BIP177 proposes redefining Bitcoin's base unit by making 1 satoshi = 1 bitcoin.

Currently, 1 bitcoin = 100,000,000 satoshis.

This change aims to simplify transactions and reduce confusion.
